Guys

Thanks to Tom (tdubel) - I found this Reeves Napoleonic Band Set on Ebay and WON IT !

I really don't collect glossy figures - but, this set was neat and of course it was NAPOLEONIC !

Pictures aren't that great - took them quickly - but, you can see why it is such a cool set

Enjoy :D :

Very nice Ron, every collection should have some glossies in it. It's the backbone of toy soldier collecting :D :D :D

Did you mark the auction on your CALENDAR? (just teasing! :D )

We'll make a legacy collector out of you yet, Ron!

Isn't that a great set? I have it, too, in matte, and I think I have almost enough for a second band as well. It should fit well with early K&C or Frontline figures, I think.

Prost!
Brad

And looking again at your pics, I'm reminded to add that there were variations in the finish, besides matte vs. glossy. There were at least 2 shades of blue, the one shown with your set, and a darker shade, like an indigo or Prussian blue.

Reeves (King-White) really are some nice figures, good examples of Ur-Chinese style, and heralds for the ones who followed.

Prost!
Brad

Cool band set. A few years ago somebody tried to sell the identical set on ebay as King & Country, and I had to check with Andy to make sure it wasn't. He told me about the "King-White" Hong Kong toy soldier manufacturer which existed prior to K&C. Its a great addition to a Napoleonic collection. Now you have to scare up some of the old glossy K&C Napoleonics to display with it.;)

Well done on the purchase Ron, which leads to the need for a Napoleonic band from K&C !!!
Regards
Brett
this would be a fantastic idea, andy please take note
ron youv'e got to lead the charge for andy to do a napoleonic band, and as always we will follow :D

Guys - Look what I found on the internet ! WOW !

Andy - its a REAL NAPOLEONIC BAND ! :D :D :D LET's MAKE SOME Of THESE GUYS !

NAPOLEON !

The Head of the Column of the First Regiment of Foot
Grenadiers of the Imperial Guard of Dijon (France)
Napoleonic Marching Band established in 1986 in Dijon, France.

When the "Head of the Column of the 1st Regiment of Foot Grenadiers of the Imperial Guard", now more commonly known as the "Musique de la Garde Imperiale", was first created in 1986, its original mission was to fittingly represent the town of Dijon (France).

But over the years it has earned a solid reputation for its high quality performances, based on both authenticity of its unifoms, and the precision of its interpretation.

The marching band has fulfilled its mission as ambassador of Dijon, as the musicians have travelled all over France, Europe (Belgium, Germany, Italy, Switzerland), in the Middle East, where the band took part in the celebration of the 3,000th year anniversary of Jerusalem, and even in the United States of America: World-Fest 2001 (Branson - Missouri).

The band's vocation for historical music has led the Imperial Guard to diverse events commemorating the Emperor: to Paris (rench Army Musuem) ; Auxonne (where Bonaparte stayed) ; Fixin (The Reveille) ; Salon de Provence (Emperi Museum) and to several other communities along the famous "Route Napoleon", for various commemorative ceremonies ; and even for recreations of history like the encounter with the Prussians at the Polish Border in Gorlitz (Germany).

Ron this looks like a much better bunch than the usual Reeves line. Congrats on the find.I would like to make a set like this from the Prince August line of molds. Not for a while anyway. Really a nice set. Was it all one set or lots of seperate pieces?

I think you are right Ron. Bring on the Band. Hey, why not with the Imperial Hearse? Or coach?

There's a seller on eBay who has been selling the individual figures at something like $19 apiece. I don't think he moved them that quickly, either.

Prost!

Great News !

I talked with Andy and King & Country WILL DO A NAPOLEONIC BAND ! :D

..... We Just Don't Know When In the Production Schedule or How Soon ? :(

Good for you ROn.

I really like the Reeves figures, I have nearly the entire catalog except a few pieces. They are the original matte Chinese style toy soldier. Andy discussed them at the NY Symposium this year and gave more of their history and their connection to K&C.

It is funny how you will find some glossy versions out there as well as unfinished castings!

I hope to get mine all assembled in one cabinet, I literally only need a few pieces from the actual soldier catalog. By the way, they also made chess sets that are dynamite too as well as a few 90mm figures.

Ron, you next need to track down all the Naps including the Mounted Napoleon! (was a special dealer figure for ordering so much)!

French or British...better yet how about one each! Maybe a SL set, I'd sign up for one...of each.
