I have been busy chopping up and painting some Italeri french guard horse artillery figures. I,ve had them sitting around for a long time now and finally got around to doing something with them and started chopping away and before I knew it I was out of figures to convert.:( I,ll have to get a few more sets because these are great chopping subjects! And I had lots more ideas but ran out of figures.
I just finished getting the paint on them and here they are along with the french wagon set from Italeri also. I,m also working on the limber set to but that still has a ways to go.
Here are the figures with the stock 5 factory figures first, the rest are conversions. The officer on the horse is also a stock figure from a different set and the only thing I did to him was twist some wire and add it to his Colpac hat because the figure comes without the tassel across his hat but should have this chord on there and the 2 limber drivers that are stuck together are stock also. I painted one set as is and cut apart another and switched the heads and faced them off to the sides on a second set.
well here are the pics of the stock figures first!

Now here are the pictures of the conversions I came up with from those stock figures using mostly just switched around parts from the other figures and the accesories that came with the figures.
I did chop up an Italeri french Hussar for the officer with the sword pose though and just used the upper part of the Hussar body with the rest of the parts coming from the artillery figures.
You can,t see it to good in the photo but when I cut the telescope from the eye of one of the telescope figures I messed up the eye a bit and it gave me a good idea to put a bandage over the eye of the figure loading the cannon ball into the cannon. I also like the way the cannon moving crew came out, I had a lot of ideas flowing like I said so I,ll have to pick up a couple more sets for chopping.
Oh! I also made those cannon balls from BB,s and glued them onto washers and flocked the with hobby grass.
Here are the conversion pics!

Very nice Tim!!!
Have you any ACW troops to go with the redoubt? It's a wonderful piece ,useful for all kinds of horse and musket periods.
Really cool!

Thanks guys!!!
Thanks Harold! I do have a Confederate gun crew converted for this redout but I never finished painting them up.:( I hope at some point soon to get around to finishing them up.

I didn,t get a good shoot of the guy with the bandage on his head last time so here is a clearer picture of the bandage I made over the guys eye. I messed up a bit removing the telescope from the figures eye while I was converting him and it gave me the idea for the conversion!

I got some primer on all these new conversions today, But I didn,t get to do a bugler in the first batch so I had to get some paint him up first.
I see a little touching up I have to do on him now that I see him blown up in the photo and I forgot to remove the flashing from his horn.:(

I finished up painting the second batch of converted figures along with some limbers and another wagon. Here they are mixed in with the first batch in a quick diorama.

nice work great variations and ideas.painting ,thats what i love about plastics, you can do what ever you want.the only limit is your imagination.a very satisfying form of art.thats the big difference between collecting plastic vs pre painted metals.
