Napoleonic Trivia #36 (1 Viewer)

I would have said Arabs but that's not the answer you want. Were they Saddlehorses? Were they all grey in colour?

What was a common trait of all Napoléon's horses?

One thing was that the horses were trained to be less skittish, less animated, shall we say, as Napoleon was not a good rider. He rode like a sack of potatoes on a saddle & sometimes fell off his mounts. Napoleon was a crack shot but was quite the opposite of Wellington (who was, by the way, a poor shot) in the area of horsemanship.

All mares?

All named after his victories? Trooper

No, not mares, it is not Arabs since some of them were not; nor the color since unlike many paintings show him always on a white horse, not all his horses were white; nor their gentle manners...

Talking about geldings, the tails and manes of a lot of military horses were routinely cut off. Does the answer revolve around this fact? All Napoleon's horses had their hair intact?
