Just realized that more than half of my Napoleonics are now retired since they first started...I'm sure glad I collected them when I did.

More naps being retired and no new ones. Is it now a case of one release a year, as with AWI. This may be good as I can buy from both series. Could it be the same month each year with each series six months apart.

Only been one this year to the best of my knowledge (Brits anyway) and that is the Guards. 2006 Saw Greys, Artillery. I thought we might get a December release but alas not, more 20th cent.
Anyone from K&C HK or Uk care to comment ( they dont normally).

You are correct, there are less Napoleonic releases than many of the other eras (WWI, Crusades, WWII). Since 2006, if you count in the French, there has been slightly over 25 Napoleonic releases each year. Already, there are 33 World War I, 53 Crusades sets (since September 2006), and many WWII.

But considering that many people buy multiple Napoleonics, to me, it seems to be enough.

It sure is enough...you don't see a WW2 collector buying 10 of the same guy.
....I've been buying too many real Napleonic antiques.

I also agree with you guys here. I am ok with 1 or 2 Napoleonics releases per year. I am still catching up with at least 4 releases I haven't even started on purely because I purchase most Napoleonics in multiples. Still waiting for Patriot to release their Brunswickers though! - has anyone heard anthing of those?

Wellington, you would have loved this then: When I was living in London some years ago, I met a Lord Hugo who had been in the military all his life (as had all his family going back centuries) and had retired as one of the Queens personal advisors/assistant. I spent a weekend as a guest of his and his wife at their home in Kent (built in 1646) full of antiques including an original menu from the cafe/restaurant at the edge of the battlefield at Waterloo dated the night before the battle - June 17th 1815. One of his ancestors had fought at Waterloo the next day and had dinner at that restaurant the previous night. He had his fellow officers sign the menu and then he kept it. Beautiully printed and dated as part of the menu - they hand wrote and dated them each day apparently. I'll always remember it hanging there on the wall. Very cool and very priceless I dare say.

Kiwi great story.
Wellington great purchases. Buttons were in very good condition most I have seen have been squashed and heavily tarnished.
When do you thing the next batck of Naps will be? March/April time.

I think we have the French Cuirassiers in 2007 too ...

Please don't be giving Andy ideas on limiting the NAPs (or even AWI) releases each year. We can always do with more ... particularly "action" poses.

Taking the latest Coldstream Guards for eg ... most were "at the ready" poses and some figures would support multiple purchases. But the Guards in Waterloo were defending Hougoumont ... so we could expect more skirmishing and melee going on. Action poses dont really need mutiple buys.

Take the latest charging French calvary ... perhaps only one pose would really need multiples.

The other point I would suggest .. is that not all NAP collectors are big diorama makers (not that we dont like to ... just that we are limited by funds and perhaps space). Some of us just like to buy one or two pieces of all releases .. so a wider range is appreciated.

I agree, I collect one of each to make up a varied unit, so I would like to see more releases per year.

The drummer is from Fubar that I just finished. The Imperial Guard in a winter coat is a casting I picked up in Chicago
