I just wanted to post some photos of the work of a fellow hobbyist, Nathan Fogt. Nathan takes dimestore recasts, and converts them, making interesting and clever figures, vehicles, artilery pieces and dioramas. He does it as an artistic outlet, not as a business, either selling the dioramas at the cost of his materials, or, sometimes, giving them away. He is a terrific guy, generous to a fault, and his work is really special. Here are some photos of some of his creations in my collection:

A "Quarantine Pick-Me-Up" Gift I received from Nathan today: Three 1914 French Poilu sharing a meal of bread, cheese and wine. The yellow note paper in the background of the wide angle shot is the note Nathan sent me with the gift. The 54mm scale marching Zouaves depicted above (next to the Mobile Pigeon Loft) were a Christmas gift from Nathan, with another hand-written note.

Nate is a great guy and I have many of his creations in my collection, I really like the ideas he comes up with especially in armored cars and naval vessels!

Nathan contacted me today, and I picked up two more of his terrific dimestore conversions, a 1914 French Ambulance and a French Alpine Corps Mountain Gun and Crew. I also will be picking up another of Nathan's vehicles, an Austin Armored Car, from Tom Dubel when I pick up my Heco Hanger.

Those look like tin cans as the turrets on those armored cars. Very clever scratchbuilding!

Prost!

I went out to the porch to check my mail, and to my surprise their was a large package from our good friend Nathan Fogt. Inside was a gift for my son, a 35mm scale French Armored Car and Staff Car with a a patrol of 1914 Poilu, and a gift for me, a dimestore scale Christmas Scene, a priest saying Christmas mass to a group of 1914 French Poilu. Here are some photos of when we opened them and them on display (the Nissan Hut is a Heco Tinplate Model that also arrived in today's mail):
