Currently on PBS is a upcoming series on Nazi Mega Weapons. Some may be interested.

"This series uncovers the engineering secrets of three iconic mega structures, tells the stories of the evil geniuses that designed them and reveals how these structures sparked a technological revolution that changed warfare forever" I doubt there will be anything new brought forward.

1. Atlantic Wall
The extensive system of fortifications the Nazis built on the western coast of Europe is examined.

2. U-Boat Pens
The Nazis built massive, impenetrable concrete submarine pens for their lethal U-boat submarines.

3. V2 Rocket
The story of how German rocket scientist Werner von Braun heralded the birth of ballistic missiles.

Hi Guys,

I haven't seen this so I have to ask a question before I waste any money on this. While I can agree that the V weapons were "mega" weapons did they explain their theory as to why they would call the Sub pens a weapon? I would agree that they were very specialized engineering feats but I can not see how they can be listed as weapons. Defenses sure and very good ones for the time but how did they support their theory that this was a weapon?

Here in the USA, and I am sure they can be found in europe in travel stores, especially the east asian ones in the larger cities, there are NTSC/PAL region free players. The smaller ones are not that expensive and can be connected to a TV.

Thanks ever so much for this info, I just searched and the progs (whole series ) are on tv this coming week so have set the lot to record.

Thanks again

Same as Rob can't beat a good German bunker , I'm looking forward to the sub pen program and hope to go back to France and take a look at one

Ditto Neil, never seen a Sub pen so a visit is a must at some point. Trouble is convincing the missus she needs a holiday involving German concrete structures and not lazing on a beach somewhere:wink2:

interesting stuff. I think they tried to say that the technological feet of making the U-boat pens almost impregnable meant that the U-boat arm was a very effective weapon due to that protection given by the pens. Without they would have been ineffective due to allied air power. Thin but, kind of see where they were coming from

From what I've read I think your right Mitch as even the RAF Tallboy bombs did not touch them as they were double roofed .
