Ran across an interesting fact that I was unaware of: the great grandson of Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest was Brig.Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest III. He was in the US Army Air Force in WW2 and became the first US General killed in action during the war when his B-17 was shot down on 6/13/43 during a bombing raid on Kiel. He was awarded the DFC for staying at the controls of his burning craft while the crew bailed out. He was the last male of his line and is buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Section 3. -- Al
