MD loses to UVA 9-7 in championship game. MD last won in '75 and '73, while I was a student there ('73). Not sure I even remember them winning at the time. {eek3} Chris

And don't forget the women's Lacrosse champions (for the 6th time in 7 years)....Northwestern Wildcats!

Same time I was there, Chris. Not much memory of the wins, either. Lacrosse just didn't have the recognition then that it does now. I do remember Lefty and gang, though.:wink2: -- Al

Good for the Cavs or (god help me) the Hoos. I was at UVA Law a couple of years earlier and their lacrosse team then was rather embarrassing. All things change as they say.

Ahhhh, LEFTY! I arrived in his second yr. Who could forget all those "March Meltdowns?" :rolleyes2:

What do you think of the Gary Williams retirement and replacement Al?

The retirement has to be good for Williams, not so good for UMd. Williams gave UMd. his best and I'm glad he got out before he dropped on court. His "enthusiasm" used to worry me. Don't know anything about the new coach but what I have read in the local papers, so I guess that will just be a "wait and see" situation. Would like to see the new coach be wildly successful. What do you think about it all? -- Al

I give all credit to the work Gary did with no name players. Never thought we would win the national championship. That said, I felt it was time for him to retire. We never got the recruiting "bounce" from the championship. MD hasn't been competitive lately, two seasons ago being the exception. Not going to the NCAA tournament last 4 of 7 yrs was very telling on the state of the program. Have the same wait and see attitude you and most fans have regarding the new coach. Not a "marquee" name but supposed to be well versed in the Xs and Os. Chris
