Need help!!!! Medallion Miniatures (2 Viewers)

I am looking at buying some Medallion Miniatures and wanted to know if any members have seen them? How good is the quality??? THANKS!

I wouLd say around quality of present day aeroart figures. I find the painting of the figures on the flags not enough realistic for my taste. there are better russian figures out there including russian vityaz figures.

Brad is correct. Not only have I looked at them at the Chicago show, I own a fair number of them.

Medallion Miniatures is owned by Glen Rabin and Judy Shipiro and they are based in Miami, Florida. Unfortunately, their website is down and has been for several months. However, they are still very much in business. I have contact information if you need it.

I am very pleased with their figures. But, like everything in life, you can find some that are more intricate and have more complex and detailed painting. However, in my opinion, you will be hard pressed to find better figures within the same price range. And, of course, the price range is not cheap. All of their figures are limited and numbered editions. Once the limit for a given figures is reached, the molds are destroyed.

Are you looking at specific figures to add to your collection? Or, are you simply asking for a general opinion regarding their quality? If it would be helpful to you, I would be glad to post some photos of some of my Medallion figures in order for you to get a first hand look at them and at their quality. If you are considering a specific figure, let me know what it is and, if I have it, I will make certain to post photos of it.

Thank you. I want to start collecting more high end figures as king and country just doesn't do it for me anymore. I don't plan on many purchases like I did with k&c so this time quality is more important. What do you consider the best?. Thank you for your help

Thanks for the link! At the Chicago OTSN show I politely asked if I could take some photos of their display. I was told that I could take all the photos I wanted of the pieces I bought. After that comment I lost all interest in their figures. Too bad. If I recall correctly, they had a neat look WW I airplane that was metal in construction and 54mm or 60 mm in scale.

In order to offer a useful opinion regarding your original question, I would like to know more about what you want in connoisseur figures. For example, are you looking for foot figures, or mounted figures, or both? Do you prefer combat poses or ceremonial figures? Is there a specific era in which you wish to specialize? Do you plan to use them in a diorama or do you plan to simply display them individually.

I clearly learn toward mounted ceremonial figures. And, I display them individually rather than in a diorama. Given my preferences, Medallion Miniatures easily meet my needs.

Almost all the Medallion figures are medieval era mounted figures. Combat poses are few and far between. Medallion produces a wide variety of nationalities from European to Oriental. And, they are very distinctive. However,...

If more modern eras, or foot figures, or combat poses are what you prefer, perhaps another manufacturer would more appropriately suit your needs. In order to provide you some general guidance, I am posting some photos of several figures in my collection. My photography is not the best, but I think I can give you a general idea of the types of figures Medallion produces.

First, let me show you their Knight Hospitaller, circa 1525. This figure represents the Flag Bearer for Phillippe Villiers de l'lsle Adam, Master of the Order of Knights Templar. I hope you enjoy viewing him. In order to facilitate your thinking regarding what you wish to purchase, I will post photos of a couple more Medallion figures in subsequent posts.

If you are setting out to build a collection, you must be careful that you do not fall into this trap. Your premise is false. This is a highly subjective matter, or as the old saying goes, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." While there will be some agreement among collectors that this studio or that maker is "the best", that is, a maker's catalog shows consistency of quality from one piece to the next, there will also be disagreements. I'm not trying to dissuade you from buying Medallion's figures, or to buy someone else's, just to offer clarification. I would look at them, and if I liked them, I'd collect them. That would be the standard I'd follow, if I were you.
