I'm attempting a wilderness diorama and am trying to add a water effect(River)Has anyone worked with the melt and pour water product from woodland scenic? How should I prep the base? How quickly does it set up?Any suggestions or input would be helpful.
Thanks Greg:confused:

Thanks Ronnie those worked great and probably saved my diorama. I'll switch to the products they mentioned as it appears this will be the easiest. So far it's turning out really good so I don't want to screw up now:D

Nice link Ronnie. I'm a big fan of water in dios and when it is done correctly it is hard to beat. The best I have seen have been done with clear or semi clear epoxy resins and the like but I've also seen some half decent painted 'water'.

That said, I feel the fully painted look isn't nearly as convincing as the depth that resins etc provide. For example, most modellers seem to prefer painted water for ocean based dios such as D-Day. I feel they miss the opportunity to add submerged weapons and other junk that of course can be seen to some depth in most oceans especially from an overhead viewpoint - which is typically how most dioramas are seen

Do you have a heat gun? The kind used building RC model aircraft used in putting the fabric on smooth. These heat guns get real hot and will burn you so use with care cool them down before laying down.

I feel I could better instruct you by phone than in writing. If you want my help you may send me your phone number by Private message and a proper time for me to call you. Don't worry about my cost LD is part of my phone package. :)

I will try again: I bought a new product at Kalamazoo Show called Magic Water. ($25.00). They say it won't crack, yellow, shrink or bubble. Their dioramas at show looked neat. I have not tried it yet. I want to do some F/I war canoes. The product allows ample working time and cures in 24 hours.Their address is: Dave Williams-Unreal Details LLC.
