My dealer just advised me that my Napoleonic variant figures are in that I have long waited for and are VERY LIMITED. Here is my problem I like half of them and the other have I'm not thrilled with the sculpts are not the best!!
Here is the problem do I buy them because of their rarety or just buy the ones I like, I can't seem to make my mind up what are your guys thoughts????
Do you guys all try and collect all sets from the time period you collect despite whether you like them????

My advice is buy them whilst you can and worry about what to do with them later.

As a dealer i would say buy them now and worry about the rest later. We have all VERY VERY limited numbers and these could be sold 4fold.

Here at K&C UK we are not even advertising them as we do not have enough to go around. We are looking at a competion to try and make it even for all. If your name is drawn out you get the right to buy!

Can be a problem these limiteds.

My opinion again sorry is buy them all if you can.

Having said that i like them all, you must have a very keen eye for sculpt

If in doubt buy, buy, buy. You can always unload them later if they don't work out. Sometimes you need to see how they look with your other figures before deciding.

Hi Wellington,

I bought them all for their limited numbers and it can't be more true as I don't collect Napoleonics and I love them all and displayed them and will keep them for a while. Buy them because if you don't and change your mind, it will cost you $$$.

Pierre.

This is a no-brainer and I'm sure some will find fault because you should just buy and collect the ones you like only, but you know as a collector of K&C you won't lose money on them and like Tony states they will probably increase four fold in a very short period of time. These could or should have been listed as Strictly Limited if they were not already. I even pondered the idea of getting them but then again I was lucky enough to get a Grief.
Tony if you read this is there any plans for another UK British release like the Sherman in the future? I received the UK Sherman after others on the board claimed it such a great piece. I agree with forum members and it is a great piece.

Wellington,

One of the things at which this forum excells is encouraging others to spend their money. As I must build my collection based on a budget, I always first look at what funds I have available. I never have enough funds to purchase everything I want, but, then who does? If obtaining the figures stretches my budget too far, then I pass up the opportunity to secure the figures and I refuse to be too disappointed. Again, I know I can not own it all.

A related question also exists. Will purchasing these figures prevent you from purchasing something else you would rather have? This question is usually the one I must face. This question sometimes forces me to consider keeping a line complete or abandoning the completeness of a line for something else that catches my eye. Regretably, I do not have an easy answer to this question and, no matter how I answer it, I do experience some disappointment that I cannot have it all. But, as most collectors, I must pick and choose carefully and be happy with all that I possess.

If funds are not a problem, I would encourage you to purchase the figures in question. After all, if later you find you still do not care for them, you can sell them and get a nice return on your investment. However, if later you do like them, you will be very glad you purchased them after all. In my opinion, the greater question is will obtaining these figures cause you to sacrifice something else you would rather have. If sacrifice or funding are not issues, then buy the figures.

Warm regards,

Pat

Thanks guys for your help!!!! I am a little strapped for cash at this present time, but I know two months from now this will once again will not be an issue. I probably will be sorry once my situation changes, so for that reason I will get them. Your point is well taken..... really, I can't afford any of this stuff, but, I do without so that I can..........

Cheers

PS I REALLY THINK YOU ARE ALL RIGHT WHEN YOU SAY THESE 10 FIGURES WILL BE VERY RARE, THEY WERE ALREADY RARE BEFORE THEY WERE EVEN RELEASED.

I have never bought any figures because I thought they might appreciate in value. I always buy what I like (the accumulator part of me) or I buy to fill in gaps in my collection (the collector part of me). Most of us do not have unlimited disposable income, so this becomes an allocation of resources decision that only you can make. But I would not buy them if I did not like the sculpts AND there was something I liked better and wanted to buy and my funds were limited.

I agree I wouldn't be buying these for a return but if I don't buy them then if I do decide in the future I would like them then I'm out of luck....tough call I guess....damned if I do damned if I don't...

IF, you asked the dealer to get them ALL for you, you need to buy them all. That would be the only honorable thing to do UNLESS, the dealer is willing to let you cherry pick them otherwise, buy only what you like. If you want to invest, go to the stock market.

I would buy the figures, since the selection of figures in this series is less then say WWII. You should be able to trade the figures for other items you like more in the future. Again be advised not all King & Country items are appreciating in value equally.

First off I wouldn't, I'm always honorable to my dealer and second I don't see any Napoleonics presently increasing in value...BUT....because I like them I don't care.....:)

PS I THOUGHT THAT THE SCULPTS FOR KCS 069, 073, 074 AND 075...WERE NOT AS GOOD AS THE OTHERS...DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE THESE THAT CAN CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG

The sculps of those figures are as great as the others in the KCS serie.

Ok Pierre I'll hold you responsible if they are not......:)

Wellington,
As your call-sign and your posts imply that you are not an Ancient Egypt collector pondering a sortie into Napoleonics via the KCS. If I were you I'd buy them and see how they look with your other pieces. If for example you become smitten by the Polish lancer then perhaps the praise (or pester power effect) can see Andy think about developing the area. After all these figures were developed with a view to moving from the one-off nature of the Del Prado range, these KCS being oriented towards exploring different prototypes for K&C Napoleonics. If you're not getting them then the prospects of Andy not being able to do anything other than produce a regiment at a time becomes more and more of a reality.
They could dove-tail nicely with some behind the lines type dioramas if these come to pass. The seems to be plenty of room in the French farmhouse courtyard for a few different types to be present. ..... and if you don't like them then you've still the strong possibility that they'll appreciate in value and can be swapped for other items (perhaps even back to your dealer for new sets at a greater than 1:1 exchange rate).
Regards,
Joe

Thanks Cannonfodder for your advice, I must say though I NEVER want to see K&C go inthe direction of Delprado. I love the fact that Andy's sets belong to regiments that accent each other. I do like the odd few pieces that stand alone but not too many. If there are too many than its starts to look crowded also by having regiments it tells a story, with a bunch of miscellaneous pieces you can't do that...my thought only of course.......
