I haven't seen anything I want in the past couple releases, so I was thinking of picking up some older sets. I'll get some mkt gdn stuff. However, I can't decide between the classic Sherman DD093 or the Panhard AC, WS125. I saw some good comments on the Sherman. What's your opinion fellow KC WWII collectors?

Well i'd probably go for the Sherman. If you havn't got one in your collection yet its well worth getting as its such an iconic piece of armour that will enhance your collection and support any D Day troops you may get. Also the Panhard is brand new and will be around for some time yet, whereas the Sherman has been around a long time now.Hope this helps.:)

Get the Sherman. No collection can be complete without a "classic" Sherman or two or three... -- lancer

Of course as the resident "Shermanoholic" I SHOULD say "get the Sherman, get the Sherman, get the Sherman", but as a fellow collector I really say "follow your heart". Which one really appeals to you most? Do you have a theme or display idea that would be enhanced by one or the other? When the K&C M12 SP 155mm gun came out I wasn't going to get one because I have a couple of the Academy 1/35th kits in my stash and the M12 wasn't that common and I wasn't sure if it ould enhance some scenes I had in mind. Then a couple years ago at OTSN I saw the vehicle displayed in the Minuteman Toy Soldiers room and realized that the M12 didn't need to be PART of a scene, it WAS the scene. I bought one and have never regretted it. The point of the story - if you can't afford "one of each" then get the one that grabs you. It's your collection, set it up for YOUR enjoyment.

Thanks for the opinions. Although the classic Sherman doesn't look that good in pictures, I do keep reading that its a nice piece. The Panhard looks neat, but I prefer original German armour and not captured conversions. More than once I purchased sets that were recommended by fellow Treefrogists. I'll go for the Sherman.

Go with the Sherman. I'm not knocking the Panhard, but I think the Sherman is outstanding. It's so versatile you can use it in almost any diorama--summer '44, winter '44, spring '45, even the Pacific. You won't regret it.

Unless you are really picky about your Sherman details...
