Looking for a GOOD illustrated book on the Luftwaffe. Any thoughts on the below listed titles. Which would be a good purchase. Looking for a good book with color illustrations like one would find on books released in the late 70's or early 80's.

Warplanes of the Third Reich (Hardcover)
by William Green

Hitler's Luftwaffe: A Pictorial History and Technical Encyclopedia of Hitler's Air Power in World War II [Hardcover] by Tony Wood

Any other titles that might fit the bill?

Thanks to all.

Back in the '5os and '60s, Green's "Warplanes" was pretty much the only game in town, and has a lot of photos and tons of technical data. However, I think it has since been found to have a lot of inaccuracies. You might want to google the title, or check some of the aircraft modeling sites, for more info on that score. Also, it's got black-and-white images.

I have it in my library, and I find that it's still a good photographic reference, despite any accuracy issues.

Not a glowing recommendation, I guess, but a recommendation nonetheless, prosit!

The following are excellent and, would recommend them. The first I would think would be more along the lines of what your after but, the others are packed with pictures and, give great detail on the Luftwaffe.

Luftwaffe squadrons 39-45 Chris Bishop: this has over 300 plus colour plates of Luftwaffe aircraft

Luftwaffe codes markings and units 39-45 Barry C Rosch: this is a superb book and, has about 1500 pictures or so

Aircraft of the Luftwaffe fighter aces Vol 1 and Vol 2 Bernd Barba: the two have about the same amount of pictures as the rosch book

Hope they help
Mitch
