Hello All,

We are sculpting 54mm miniatures, Leutienant Melvill attempting to save the Queen’s Colour of his 1st Battalion, 24th Regiment of Foot, at Isandlwana and being attacked by a Zulu warrior.

We have already read some Osprey books on the subject and searched through museums' websites, but it seems that is really tricky to find the necessary details. So any help or advice will be very appreciated. We won't forget those who helped us when the miniatures are ready, and will provide them with a good discount! :D

The main issue is the type of Melvill’s red jacket. It seems that the artist has painted him wearing a 7-button tunic instead of the 5-button undress frock which was more common on the battlefield. The first question is: do you think that this is correct?

The second question is: do you know any sources where some images of 24-th Regiment’s uniform in accordance with the ranks can be found? We have tried to find what Leutienant’s sleeves should have looked depending on the jacket's type, but haven’t found any structured information.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Kind regards,
Tatiana
