New AZW battles coming (2 Viewers)

What captures my imagination about the Zulu War, were all the hodge podge of civilian / military units. Why does any particular battle have to be represented? Just provide individual units and an artillery or gatling grouping. Throw in some naval and highlander units and let us make our own collective scenarios or displays. Throw in a wagon or limber set, if you must....if glossy, I will probably go after them all......Michael

more glossy AZW!!! wagon & limber sets would be great plus mounted figures us glossy collectors are crying out for more AZW sets

Yes, I can see your point and agree. Trouble is the 80th, for instance, had yellow collar/cuff trimmings, the Buffs, well they had buff so I want my dispalys to be as accurate as they can be really and remember the 24th were not at Ulundi so you can't use them if youre a stickler like me!

I too am a stickler for authenticity but the lack of finances would force me to use the 24th Foot in place of the 80th in a diorama. It would be neat if W Britain could run the firing line through with different colored collar/cuff facings, but this could also be accomplished with a steady hand and a $3.00 bottle of paint.

While I would like to have a half a dozen 17th Lancers I hope Britains has moved on to the Sudan instead of going all the way to Ulundi.

I WANT the CARBINEERS!
Or, maybe a representation of each unit as depicted in the Osprey Series plates. To do Ulundi in depth would be epic, and ridiculous for collecting, not for morality issues. Gatlings, Chelmsford, 9 and 7 pdrs , and transport, as well as King Cetshwayo would be nice.
In the north, a scene of iNtombi and Hlobane/Kambula would come long before Ulundi IMO.

Yes Carbineers too! It was Durnfords Carbineer who delivered the message that the camp was under attack...and sent Mr. Milne "to a high point" with his telescope.
I believe several Carbineers made their last stand with Durnford.

It seems to me that WBritain's on the right track starting with Rorke's Drift which will alow them to move on to Isandlwana with a nice starting base of figures where they will then be able to begin adding sets of figures from the various contingents that took part in the battle of Isandlwana. They've already started with two members of the Natal Mounted Police and one member of the Natal Native Contingent even if he isn't wearing any boots. Hopefully will see a number of the new Drift figures firing their weapons both standing and kneeling with others in hand to hand poses against Zulu Warriors with them stabbing and clubing with their rifles which will fit in nicely with any small scale or large scale diorama or photo diorama of Rorke's Drift and Isandlwana. I guess all we can do now is wait and see what WBritain has in store for us and remember all good thing come to those who wait even when we're disappointed with the results in some cases. That's it for me now on the subject and I'm sure it will continue..........The Lt.

:D:DEither way we are lucky we collect the AZW where we are going to be spolied for choice for a long time. If we collected more unpopular themes like the Little Big horn we would really be complaining.
