Received the Conte set #VA002 "Sting of the Valkyrie" today from Sierra Toys. This set is from Conte's Medievel Range, Viking Raid series. I am posting it here because I am using it for my K&C Crusader diorama I am working on. I got the idea for its use from forum member bearybones - thanks BB.
This ballista is really, really sharp - a great piece of work, and it fits perfectly with the K&C Crusaders and Saracens. It is a resin casting w/metal trim. I don't know yet whether I will place this in my diorama as a siege weapon or as a tower defense weapon - either way it will look great. Have included pics with other K&C pieces and with the JG miniatures Tower for a comparison.
Anybody out there who is collecting the Crusader line should really seriously think about this one. At $64.95 you get the ballista, a detailed base, and a Viking "gunner". Of course I will only be using the ballista. Now I am thinking about getting Conte VA003 "Thunderbolt" which is a catapult, base and 4 vikings. Perhaps a different style of catapult would look good next to the K&C one.
