Hello everybody,
the new Classics, FIW & Petticoats are shown now under TF's Britains listings.
Wonderful figures !!!

Master Dave

How do you like the Sudan figures? We need a range comparable to the Zulu series. right?:)

I finally have had a chance to sit down and look at all of these....Mommy is out of town all week, so after fleeing the office had to pick up the 2 princesses at the babysitters house, stop and pick up the Chinese take out they pleaded for, etc......

Those 2 Sudan figs are really lovely. This is precisely what I have been waiting for, and am still surprised that the subject has gone untouched by the major mfr's for so long.

Was on the fence about starting to collect another line of figures - But that new Guards Camel Corp trooper changed all that! Oh well, In for the penny, in for the pound.

How many would like to see WB do a series on the Anglo-Sudan Wars comparable to what they have done with the Indian Mutiny and most recently the Zulu War? Matte, glossy or both?

You already know I'd be in favor of any such series. I'm guessing that especially with quality like this, any future releases would sell great. Lots of exciting possibilities for both British and Mahdist figures easily come to mind.

I have Sudan figures from a variety of makers. It is one of my favorite periods - khaki, Kitchener, Gatling's ,camels and Churchill - what the heck more could you ask for.

Before I add the WBs to my collection I would want to see more than 2 figures.

Would the Sudan figures be similar in size to the French and Indian War line...? Michael

I would support the line if they made one. I think there is a need for both matte and gloss but right now I would choose gloss if I had to choose one.

Just look at him;

That's a good question, since the FIW line is the same size as the Classics. The new WB Zulu gloss line figures are also the same size as the Classics. As you are all aware, the Classics run a little smaller than other WB series. Since the 2 Sudan figures are Classics I would guess if the line ever expands (as did FIW) they would be at the same scale. According to Ken an attempt was made with these lines to match (scale, size) with the traditional glossy WB lines from the past but sculpt and paint them in the more realistic style of matte figures.

For those who may be looking for the Sudan, it's under the Redcoats collection. This may be a good complement to my Trophy and K & C Camel Corps. I want to see them in person, hopefully in Chicago. I also want to check out the LL Camel Corps as well.

Watched the movie "Four Feathers" (2003 release) the other day. I thought it had some very well done battle scenes of a Dervish attack on a British square. Would very much like to see a new series by Britians on the War in the Sudan. It would be a great follow up to what they are doing now with the Zulu War.

I can't think of better subjects for toy soldiers than Queen Victoria's "Little Wars".

Brad--here is a comparison of WB & LL. The WB appears to have more realistic detail (I saw photos of it from all angles while writing my commentary for the WB Spring Supplement) but as a Classic I would guess slightly smaller than the LL. I like them both and plan to add the WB to my LL example.

Randy,

Thanks. I had a LL Camel and it was nice but had to return it because it had some defects so I'm hoping to get one in Chicago.

Randy is spot on here. Richard and I decided to standardize the scale and look of the two main ranges, Classic Gloss and Realistic Matt. As a result any new additions to the Sudan, Zulu, ect. we will keep the same look as the Redcoats/Bluecoats. If we spin off a Matt figure of some Gloss subject it will be a new sculpt to match the existing Matt figures.
This has required a bit extra work co-ordinating the styles of the principal artists making patterns, but we think it is an important step to insure compatibility within ranges.
Hope this clears things up a bit!
