Paul “Papa” Hausser (1880-1972) was one of the most capable and famous generals in the Waffen-SS. By the end of 1933 he joined to the SS as a veteran of World War I and became head of its officer academy. During the invasion of France and the early stage of “Operation Barbarossa” he commanded the 2nd SS Panzer Division Das Reich and his actions won him the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross in August 1941. However, just two months later, he lost an eye in a battle in Russia…

Here he is dressed in standard green and field gray tunic and trousers of the Waffen SS… and has not been seriously wounded yet!
