Im being told by my dealer that these figures are en route.....waiting with baited breath......has my vote for best figures of 2021.

Great looking figures. Just wish they were the same size as the other Teutonics.

Joe, Are they not the same size as the other figures in the range? I just assumed they'd be the same size.

Man, if they’re different it’s small. I think I can see some difference but it looks like normal human variation.

My crusaders arrived last night. Boy, do they mix in well with the initial batch of Teutonic cavalry for Leipus (I didnt get the Livonians so cannot comment there).

Beautiful looking figures. Id just offer a word of caution with the guy standing holding the axe. FL did a fantastic job with his axe handle being slightly bowed rather than just a straight shaft of wood. Might want to exercise a little caution when removing him so that you dont accidentally bend it.

In terms of size, I only have one other FL Crusader and it is the Hospitaller with the axe. I would say size wise these figures are comparable to that release, if not a little bigger. I think they are very robust, packed excellently and just insane cool. The contrast in colors is really well done too imo.

My wife asked why these guys had those massive horns on their helmets- can anyone field that question? Im assuming it was an intimidation thing. Crusades arent really a period I know much about- these figures just joined my ranks because they look so darn cool.

My understanding is that there does seem to be a fair amount of contemporary artwork that depict German/Holy Roman Empire Knights with ornate head ornaments including all those that FL depicts. They appear to show them in actual combat frequently and not just in tournaments. So, we speculate they did, but it is definitely debated. Again, this general to Central European knights. I am not sure if this is where it comes from for the Teutonic Order or if there’s more direct evidence.

Artwork does not show as much for English, French and Spanish knights.

I believe their are members like Andanna and others who study them deeper than I do. I am more focused on the Knights of St John, the Levant and the western Knights. I have only dabbled in the Teutonics, Livonian Sword Brothers and Imperial Knights, but I do plan to fix that. 😃

Also- the figure I reference is CRU098. These figures are comparable in size if not slightly larger than that batch.

Just found this. Interesting how it contradicts most of what Google brings up places like Reddit and Quora:

My pics aren't the best but in person it looks like I have some heavily armed squire boys standing next to knights. The heads are tiny and the helm sizes are way off compared to the originals. Just my opinion and in person it is really apparent. Wish I knew this before I purchased. At the price point of these things now a days I would like to know if the scale is being changed up.

Both FL and War Park seem to have this issue occasionally.

It's annoying because it breaks out my collection into big 1/30 and small 1/30. Usually it's not a huge deal to work around, but my plan like yours was probably to display the new Teutonics grouped right next to the old Teutonics, since they're all at rest.

The bodies look fine for normal human variation. Still seems workable, but definitely will have to play around with placement so the head size difference doesn't jump out at you.

Figures are beautiful though.

Some of the brothers are from Germany, some are from Austria! {sm4}

Unfortunately I was unable to snag the previous foot soldiers so I have to take your word for it. The photos do appear to support what you are saying.

Thanks for the photo Joe; I see what you mean. There are some significant differences there. Particularly the head on the new chap holding the helmet is really tiny. I even thought it looked odd in FL's promo photos. Nice figures, but quite the uniformity / scale fail for sure.

I think the new figures are true 54mm. It might be due to a new sculptor. I think I am still ok. I combine my FL figures with Russian ones which tend to be 54mm as well.

Doubt it's a new sculptor. The older Teutonic Knight swinging an axe looks to be this same size. There's a couple FL WW2 figures with the same size discrepancy.

This picture above looks like the new figure blends in well enough with the flag bearer.

That's a great looking figure. Can't wait until mine get here.
