George I always enjoy crusader displays especially your posts. The depth of your collection makes the display truly impressive and I agree the JG castle walls go so well with the K&C desert village.

Could I please ask who makes the ballista and seige shields you are using?

Hi Breslau,

Thank you for your kind compliments. The siege shields are by Armand Bayardi. It comes as a single shield model kit and is listed as Medieval Archer's Mantlet, Kit No. MEA/103. The kit must be assembled and painted. I purchased all of mine at Michigan Toy Soldier Company. The ballista is from the Viking Raid series by Conte Collectibles. I purchased my two at Sierra Toy Soldier Company. That piece is several years old now and is becoming harder to find, but it sure is neat. Conte Collectibles also made a very nice, big catapult for the Viking Raid series. I think the catapult is also still being sold.

Best Wishes,

George

Thanks for the information George. Recently I've also seen some of the seige shields made by elastolin on eBay.

Another thing I really like about your display is the blending of buildings from different eras which is so typical of towns and cities from those civilisations. Brett from the Military Workshop had offered me his shop display JG walls at a reduced price just recently. When I asked again on Friday they had already been sold. I should have got when I first asked. Now I'll pay a little more.

Best regards. Rob

Rob, the JG walls, tower and gate are all very nice. I highly recommend that you consider including the gate in your purchases. The gate not only looks really neat, but it provides great possibilties for mounted soldiers entering and exiting, etc. The K&C set of three men at arms climbing a scaling ladder goes well with the walls, but that set is quite hard to find now, as it was discontinued years ago. I have three of that set and have customized some of the figures, so there are no exact duplicates. I wouldn't mind getting a fourth set.

The size and scope of this dio just floors me. {bravo}} I love the merchant with the rug. Great detail. -- Al

The JG Walls and Towers are very impressive. I have several of them as well and they go well with the Crusaders but can also be used with ancient Romans and Greeks.
Hopefully K&C and First Legion will come out with more Crusade era siege equipment!
