Hi,
Like you I have ordered the Winter Tiger ( from the UK, I live in Portugal ) and am anxious to get it. I also have a few 1/35 beauties from MInichamps, so your words do raise my expectations.

I am going to wait on winter Tiger for now. A little disappointed because I think it is the same AK Tiger repainted. Dragon seems to do that often with their models. Maybe I will wait for another model- preferably a PZIV or Stug. Nice models but I don't want a ton of Tigers. Leadmen

i just got the tiger 1 initial production abt.502 #100 this is the tiger 1 with
2 storage tanks mounted on the side-i haave to tell you-i have the dragon tunsia 1942 tiger 1-abt.501 #142 1/35th model-dragon outdid themselves-they each have the characteristics that each tank had-tunsia version has air filters which ak tanks had-exhaust covers-lenigrad version is different is from
reference books did the abt.502 #100 exact-no exhaust covers-no mud
covers mounted to sides.these models are really their dragom 3n1 kit put together for you-painted and weathered-i tried putting the dragon lenigrad 3 n1 initial prod.tiger 1 together-it's a bitc-.if you buy the model,paints,photo-
etch,etc-plus the time to put this model rogether these tankl are a steal.
the winter version is 100% correct model of the tiger 1 abt.502 #122 -which had a panzer 111
storage bin attached to rear of turrent-which is correct-plus no exhaust covers-totally different from tunsia model-i cannot stress the workmanship
and detail these tanks have-i collect only minichamps -dragon has a winner-
all hatches open and close-gun recoils, front machine gun swivels.i sent dragon
a email and begged them to do some panzer iv in ausf.b-h's.-just giving you my input as i really am fussy and am amazed at the detail and skill it takes to put these tanks together-i tried to put the abt.502 #100 initial prod.lenigrad tiger 1 together-not easy.-joe

Thanks for posting differences on Tiger models. I thought they were same. Maybe I will order one, sure is easier then doing a multipart kit model. Leadmen

Just received my Tiger 502 #122 Winter. Great piece. Joe did you order directly from Cyber Hobby for the other Tiger or did you find a dealer carrying this product. Let me know which dealer if so. I also received the two latest 1/72 Panther G's, the Jagpanzer,Nashorn and Stugs with skirts. All were really well done. I hate to say though that most of the die-cast has gone by the wayside. Awaiting my half-tracks as I type.

fullyautomatic-i ordered the tiger 1( initial prod.)abt.502 #100 from www.dragonusaonline.com-this tiger is on the front page of this site.
plus they have a 1-800 phone no#-this tank is nice.www,monkeydepot.com
still has the dragon tiger 1 tunsia version-this is the best detailed 1/35th scale tiger i ever saw-monkeydepot has 12 angle pics of this tank.i couldn't build this tank in my best days of modeling and when you add the cost of the model kit, paints, photo etch,a real good spray gun and most of all patience and time.best money i ever spent-dragon did their research on these tiger's-
each tiger has been carefully researched to have it's special specs.most
important-these tanks have opening hatches to place 1/35th figures in.
i cannot rave enough about these tanks-i collect mostly minichamps but
they keep re-issueing the same 4 german tanks without changing the
speial spec's tigers had changed as time went on.plus minichamps hatches
are closed.i have the tunsia version and lenigraad #100 version.i aam done wih the tiger i family as i emailed dragon to do some pz iv's in ausf.b-h series.
since the kits came out recently i think 1 year from now we will see them
done-ask dragon to do a display stand clear cover to protect our tanks from dusk as the display stand these tanks come with have a grove for a cover.
check out monkey depot for tunsian tiger 1 pics-blow you away-hope my review does some good-joe

Thanks Joe. I have had the Tunsia Tiger for a few months and have been contemplating with purchasing the Cyber Hobby special. I believe I'm going to pass on it just for the fact of the cost. I have enough Tigers now in this scale so I'll wait for Dragon to hopefully release a different tank in the future. I pray its not a King Tiger though. Like there 1/72 line they produced more variants than what saw action in WWII. I did pick up the 1/35 Dragon tank crew with Wittman in it. I just hate to bust these out of the pack though. One side of the brain says take them out, the true collector side says keep them MIB. Oh the constant struggles and decisions I have to make...:p

I broke down and ordered the winter Tiger 502. I was going to restrain myself but weak. Also ordered 1/72 Dragon stug Italy and a Tiger. Leadmen

sir-good taste in buying the tiger 1 #502 #122-i take it you people do not know the history of the cyberdragon 502 #100 and #122.these were the first 20 tigers made in germany and immediately sent to the lenigrad front without
testing these tanks fore problems.each tank commander customized his tiger at the front to serve his crews needs.reason why there are differencesin storage bins added-they were each issued with 2 sets of tracks-combat tracks-wider and transport tracks for putting tiger on a train as combat tracks were to wide for railroad cars.time consuming job changing tracks.
the first 4 tigers assigned to abt.502 in the lenigrad area broke down due to
mechanical failure.3 of them were rescued and the 4th was blown-up to keep from russian hands-the abt502#100 and #122 tiger's belong to the same unit and yet are different in appearance due to tank commanders adjusting their tank to harsh conditions and making due with what they could get-the first 20 tigers-initial prod.-had many problems in them that the factory could't solve in time due to deadline..tiger wheels often froze due to overlapping wheels with frozen mud locking wheels causing track to snap off when wheels locked due to mud and ice.this is the last tiger i needed.hoping dragon does a
panzer iv.i have the king tiger by minichamps-the finest model ever made.
hope dragon doesn't do every variation of tiger 1's as room to display these in 1/35th scale can be a problem.i have 6 minichamps german tanks.joe

First I would like to say welcome to forum and thanks for posting info on winter Tiger. I find it very interesting and educational comments by you and others on the history of these tanks. I do read a lot of history but always learn something new. I do have to find a space to set them up, still got Tunisia Tiger in box but got some Dragon crew figures to paint and add to vehicles. leadman-thanks so much-i am new to this forom-i really collect lionel o gauge trains-i bought my first minichamps tank about 2 years ago-i fell for the die cast feel and weight-same as die cast trains are made-always was a ww2 buff-just sold a large german militaria collection i saved and collected-
most hobby stores have book and magazines format ref.material by opsrey
on tiger 1,etc-i think for the since you collect german tanks you should
look into these ref.magazines-about 11.00.knowledge on each tank verision
-priceless-outside of minichamps-wish they came with open hatches and that they produce different tanks-panzer 1v- b thru h.i know to produce a casting in die cast is very expensive.the cost for a die cast steam engine is about
500,000. so i can understand them running the same mold in different paint themes to make a profit after paying for the first castings.dragon although
plastic ois a real winne scale tank.i bought the model kit the dragon initial
prod.tiger1 -it is a very difficult kit-i should suggest www.armorama.com
and www.track-link.net for people interested in tanks.they have a lot of info on diaramas, etc.enjoy your dragon tanks-when you receive them take time to view the detail on hatch insides, paint weathering, etc.this is a good buy just in patience alone.time to look again at my dragon tunsia version again.
enjoy-joe

Joe, thanks for the heads-up on the Dragon winter tiger , looked it up on dragonmodelsusa, it looks awesome, where did you buy yours and how much is it. :) thanks

Fred

fred and leadman-i got my dragon tiger 1 abt.502 tech #100 (tiger with 2 storage bins mounted on turrent sides) from dragonusaonline.com.i paid 72.00
and received free s&H.for those of you ordering the dragon tiger 1 abt>502 tech#122-you should try to obtain the opsey refernce magazine(softcover)
named tiger 1 in action-there aare numerous orginal pics of no#122 with the
panzer 3 storage bin mounted .you can obtain this book from www.squadron.com-book section-opsrey-book called "tiger 1 in action"
wealth of info and pics on the developement of the tiger 1 from 1942-45
with several pages with color paint themes applied to tiger's.the also have
ref.books on panthers, stug's ,etc. another piece of info for you-i bought
the dragon cando panzer crew set-www.greaatmodels.com
the heads with forage hats,m-43 and visor can be interchangacle.head just lift off and placed on another body shell-you might have to whittle a little of the rubber neck stub to fit into neck hole for better fit but it works-i also interchanged some of the arms-this takes a little more work-remove arm stub from body and ca glue carefully different arm.just a suggestion for a little change.enjoy your dragon tiger-warning -i do not see where there is any diecast to this tank-it looks to me to be all plastic exactly like their
dragon 3 n 1 model kit-also tracks are lightly glued to wheels.i beleive it would not take much to get track and wheels to rotate.enjoy talking tanks
anyone like minichamps like me?joe

Joe, I have to admit my wife has been very understanding and tolerant when it comes to my toy soldier collecting. The comment about her murdering me over this "hobby carried to excess" was just a poor attempt at humor. I'll take her out to dinner when the Dragon winter tiger arrives, besides I can't get to the UPS driver before our dogs start barking, they hear the sound of the truck before it arrives making it impoossible to sneak any packages in the house.:D

Fred: I ordered my tiger from Atlantic toys in Calif. About $10.00 cheaper then others. John
http://atlantictoys.safeshopper.com/

John, thanks for the tip on atlantictoys, ordered the winter tiger Saturday, there's a couple on ebay, but this way seemed easier than the bidding war game.

Thanks for all the info, Joe. Will let know when it arrives.

Fred
