New DAK figures and Stalingrad figures (1 Viewer)

These figures look great to me. I'm looking forward to putting them to work. {bravo}}

Many DAK jackets look too greenish to me, they have the same tone then the stalingrad ones. Kaki helmets and green jackets....^&confuse

Olive green is the correct default color for Heer tropical cotton clothing. There was tremendous variation in Heer tropical clothing including examples of brown and tan tunics. Weathering and exposure to the sun would eventually bleach clothing white and they would often be covered in sandy dust. Tropical tunics can be identified by the breast eagle which is located lower than the regular tunic and partially overlaps the breast pocket flap.

I applaud First Legion for showing so much variation between the various items of clothing as this is far more representative of the rag tag look DAK actually had. I also applaud the widespread use of field caps as helmets were hot to wear.

Metal items such as helmets and gas mask canisters would be over painted with tropical vehicle colors such as RAL8020

Luftwaffe tropical clothing was much more consistent in regards to color which was amber yellow when new.

Great post Frank , you have the patience of Job :salute:::salute:: Of course you are correct with regards to the color. When I was about 16 I bought a DAK Tunic which was unissued, the color was almost chocolate Brown only thing wrong with it was that a mouse had chewed a big whole in the pocket from poor storage. I share your opinion on these figures and really look forward to seeing what you can do with em :salute:::regards Gebhard

So I just got the new issue of Toy Soldier & Model Figure Magazine and what do I find but a nice little surprise. These figures look great and I'm starting to get the WWII itch again. The DAK fighting poses are remarkable and look to be very well done. Plus the headline indicates that the opposition is "close at hand". Sorry about the poor pic fellas but if you want a better image just check out the magazine.

I hope we get some kind of update email/newsletter with these sets in it, it has been awhile since the Stalingrad range had some announcements, I love my FJ's, SS, Paras, but hope that First legion has some goods for our boys in Stalingrad, that being said all 4 of these sets look outstanding...Sammy

Hi Guys,

I love what First Legion did with the historical contrast in the Stalingrad figures. The figures accurately reflect the rapid demise of the German 6th Army as it fought to try and take control of the city. Along with the North African campaign, this is where Germany lost the initiative in World War II and started to go on the defensive. Great figures as usual by First Legion!!! Some of the DAK figures are must haves for me! Now if I can just convince Matt and his team to release some armor to us!!!

Alex :smile2:

Hi Guys,

What is the unit designator on the right front fender of the Kubelwagen?

Thanks,

Alex
