I am afraid the new prices in the last 2 or 3 months have done for me. The prices are just too high for the quality and accuarcy which I feel have not kept pace with the price rises For those in the USA the UK price of the Typoon at todays exchange rate is $583. Single figures aproximately $58.

The quality of the product does not match up with the price rises for me, i always saw K & C as a bit better quality than Britains, with the prices that reflect this, but the quality of Britains has gone up [as have there prices, but not as much as K &C].

K & C prices have risen so much it has not taken them into another level of quality, in competition [for me] with figures like First Legion. which I think are better quality for the price. In the future I will look at Britains, Crusaders from First Legion and also the K & C I am missing from the Nap, BotBulge, D-Day, RAF. But only up to a certain price. I am also quite lucky as I visit the US with work and can buy there at better value prices.

Love the Typhoon and the figures that go with it, but the prices makes it not worth it when there is so much out there to buy.

I don't know if anyone else has seen the prices, but the NAPOLEONIC IN EGYPT figures show in DISPATCHES yesterday have gone up from $37 for a foot figure to $42.

I know the pecial figures, such as flag and sunsheild cost more, but I would have thought this raise in only a few months is slighty inflationary.

Still.... I love these new figures, with the colourful uniforms and wonderful poses, so the price won't affect my purchaes of them, maybe I'll have do more painting jobs to pay for them ???? ^&grin

Still really new at this.......so is the $58 for a single figure the MSRP or is that the expected street price? If this is the street price then OUCH.......

John,
You are right, this is rather distressing, definately will cause changes, won't stop me either. Wish I could see into the future to see when were going to turn the corner on all this nonsense. It's all politics at the root of it to me

Sorry to say that the price is what you will see on the dealer's web site;, in the stores and "initially" on ebay. But the more difficult part is when the figure is eventually retired then you see another price increase do the "law of supply and demand.

So...... buy while you can 'cause the chances are that it will only go higher. That howevre is also the GOOD news, in that what you buy today will be worth more tomorrow in trade of sale value

Thanks for the info. It appears from this we are looking at $39 to $42 for the singles compared to $29-$32 now

I guess I picked the wrong time to get into this hobby :)

Only have K&C in my small collection so far, I think this price change might be good for me long term and force me to look at other makers for some things to buy :)

I can help you out there John................{sm4}

The price for the AK panzer I conversion with one full figure is $189.00, the price for the the little British truck in AK colors is "yet to be determined". I am afraid of what will be. The vehicles and the figures look great, but to get them all, we are looking at 8 x 42 = 336 plus 189 x 2 for the vehicles at approximately $720.00 for August and September. Plus the AK VW. There are still 12 AK figures I never got, so that is $400.00 more. Plus the odd LAH I always wanted to get.... It really adds up. And who nows what great new things will come up next month. I guess we all have some hard choices ahead. But I guess that is the nature of collecting.

I don't think that this is a wrong time, but just an opportunity to look at all your options. If you look at TFT’s main web page, you will see dozens of vendors each with multiple lines. And these vendors are not the only ones. Do a Google or Bing for “Toy Soldiers” and you will see thousands of hits. There ARE choices for you, and K&C is only ONE of them.
If you think about it, would you want the value of your collection to drop over time, or even stay the same over time?
It might be an interesting poll to see how many collect purely for the enjoyment and fun of Toy Soldiers, who collects for the pure investments or maybe a mix of reasons. Ask you self, would you get the same enjoyment if you went to the local food store and brought a package of those plastic figures for $1.29??
For me the enjoyment of collecting come in different phases. First the expectation of the NEW releases from Andy and Company (or Conte, First Legion, John Jenkins …); then comes the “HUNT” to find the piece, then the acquisition and finally the planning and the display. Even after the piece is retired and gone, there is always that hope that, maybe, just maybe it will pop up on the Classifieds, maybe eBay or at your local Toy Soldier store. Every day and new adventure.
Enjoy each piece by itself and not as only a cog in a big Toy Soldier wheel … but have fun and the collection will grow!!

Spot on. I fully agree.

I just lost my job (outsourcing to Irland). So pricing is even more an issue for me right now. But this doesn't change the basic enjoyment as Larry was discribing.

Great advice, being so new to this hobby I am all about collecting and not thinking about long term value and return on investment. Good to hear you put it in perspective. I am going to order some pieces from other companies to see how I like them :)
