New Earhart photo?? (1 Viewer)

I made the mistake of watching this show on History Channel. Not to learn much about AE but to see yet another example of how history is distorted into idiocracy entertainment. They have a photograph that purports to show two white people who they believe are AE (not even facing the camera) and her companion. They don't have a clue when it was actually taken and you couldn't recognize your own mother in this photo but they make this claim. They then test the photo to determine if it is "authentic". By this they mean the photo itself has not been altered. They then declare the photo is "real" resulting in many viewers likely believing by that statement that the scientific testing has concluded this is a "real" photo of AE rather than just a photo of some unknown people that has not been altered. They then begin to state they have "confirmed" it is her in the photo. They claim a specific ship picked up AE from some island but there is no investigation or discussion as to whether the Japanese records put this ship anywhere near this island. They claim AE sent radio transmissions giving her location but don't explain how she had any clue she knew where she was if she were lost and found the landing spot out of luck. They contend the Japanese took her prisoner, kept her, and never revealed it but don't explain why they would have done this in 1937 before the war. They claim the Americans knew the Japanese took her prisoner but decided to cover this up because they didn't want the Japanese to know they had broken their codes. But there is no evidence presented that the US ever intercepted any such messages. Surely that information would be available now. Instead a giant cover up is still going on for some inexplicable reason (the panacea of conspirarcy theorists when they hit a wall). And on and on. There is a lot of dependence here on dubious witness recollections and a few scrapes of metal found on the island that could be anything. We are told that because a witness looks up when talking this means they are trying to "remember" and therefore can be trusted. It is Ancient Aliens logic and evidence.

It has two things going for it. Not about OJ or JFK. Gives jobs for retired Colonels and
former FBI Agents.

I thought the same thing when I looked at the photo. "Where is AE?" This would be the most "perfect cover up" ever. No one on the Jap(anese) or American side has ever confessed or provided evidence of the capture and murder (the possibility of her return is too ludicrous to contemplate) of her and the navigator, or knowledge thereof. I think this stuff keeps surfacing to attract $ for another "investigation" by the retired Colonels and FBI agents mentioned in the previous post.

There was an extensive search after her disappearance, to no avail. Chris

From CNN article:

A newly discovered photo which was claimed to hold the key to the 80-year-old mystery surrounding Amelia Earhart's disappearance may have been published two years before she vanished, new evidence suggests.

The blurry photo, used in a History Channel documentary, was alleged to show the groundbreaking pilot and her navigator Fred Noonan alive and well on a dock in the Marshall Islands in 1937.

But two bloggers say they have found the photo in a Japanese coffee table book dated 1935 -- when Earhart was safely in the United States.

History Channel has really gone into the realm of fiction, rather than facts.
