I've notice some of the new sets are selling out faster and faster. Are we getting more and more JJD collectors or are some of the old collectors buying more than one.I myself buy only one set and I'm starting to be more selective as I just can't keep up with everything anymore. The only time I've had more than 1 set is when I've gotten them in a trade.I'm not downing anybody for buying more than one set,I was just curious to find out.

Mark,

I think you will find that sets are going retired a lot quicker from John due to the fact that John now has 20 dealers, not 5 or 6

So a 500 set release only goes so far (25 sets per dealer).

The other side is yes, I expect the word is getting out there about how go John's figures are. So a lot more people buying now compared to 12 months ago.

I buy on two fronts. First for my personnel collection and then to paid for my personnel collection.

I buy twice what I need, sell one half to cover the cost of my other half and at the moment one covers the other.

But the old problem comes into play, is one set all I need or 2 or 50. They are just to good to let go.

Current count stand at 600+ sets, a touch under 1500 figures and touch over $57,000 USD in value.

I know what is touched, my head, GOD HELP ME.

Is there a TSA (Toy Soldier Anonymous), if not I am starting one, any members.

that is one impressive set of numbers Aussie Monty. i came to JJ about 15 months ago and collect the Mononghehela and Quebec series. usually only one set of each but a few multiples of the line infantry for a small battle line. -- lancer

I've been collecting JJD for about 2 years and I have 1 Woodland Indians set that he made for Frontline when he first started out in the soldier business before his own lines came out. I have only bought 1 set of each in his Monongahela, Quebec, Snowshoes and 1812 series except for several sets that didn't interest me. I didn't go for the St. Francis series either.

I myself have all the Snowshoes range except September's releases.I have the Blockhouse and Log Cabin but not the figures ( I got them in a trade but sold them) in the St. Francis range.I sold all I had of the Quebec range.I have about 1/2 of the Monongahela range and sold the other half.I didn't collect the Chippewa range.I have 29 sets,2 Blockhouses plus the stockade walls and 1 log cabin and sold or traded 41 sets and 3 cannons.

I honestly believe we have a lot more collectors now. More and more you read about people who just started collecting JJD.

I am scared to go into what I have invested in JJD

Its great stuff - but even I dont try to collect everything that JJD makes - it too much and with all the other things coming on the market - you have to pace yourself.

Here is my BM Diorama for those who haven't seen it before. I have every BM Set made - I personally love that Battle.

I really like Dio.I`m thinking of trading my K/C Arnhem for more JJD.Not sure yet.The FIW had a part in Nova Scotia history so I leaning that way.
Cheers

Very nice Ron.I did have most of the Monongahela series but I sold some of the sets including the FM sets 01-04.I'll probably end up regretting it.
Mark:(:(:(

I must say i am fairly new at collecting toy soldiers however, i have to say that JJ does make some really nice figures and diorama. I myself take a look at his figures whenever i see them and have purchased one of the log cabins to include in future sets. He has done an amazing job and i hope he keeps things coming especially dio items.

Nice Ron. Who is the fellow in the very back of the French line holding up his hat (in white)? I don't recognize that as a JJ figure. Maybe Frontline?

Combat - Great EYE ! ;)

That is the Frontline French Flagman and Officer Set. I know they weren't rolling out the French Colors at Monongahela - but that FLAG LOOKS SO COOL !! It had to have a home :D

As you can tell - I also put the the "Death of Wolfe" Set in the diorama too ... another "that set was So Cool " thing :)

Hey - if you cant have fun with your collection - why collect - right ??

I have mine displayed in a gigantic melee. I don't have any problem with collectors mixing and matching to their hearts content. Just curious as to what it was.

Hey - No Offense Taken :)

I think that these JJD Figures are just wonderful - I haven't jumped in buying the POA range - just focusing on BM and Snowshoes.

With the occasional Fort, Log Cabin and 1812 set here and there ;)

But you have to admit that it's a magnificent obsession!

Sans Culotte,

I forgot to add my King & Country Collection and the Frontline Collection.

I was doing my insurance for the year for the house and contents.

I had to come up with a figure for the Toy Soldier Collections.

House $350,000, Contents $50,000, Toy Soldier Collections $150,000, something wrong here.

And no it is not I should get a smaller/less expensive house and contents, so that way I can buy more Toy Soldiers. :D

The first meeting of the TSA (Toy Soldier Anonymous) will be on Friday at 7.00pm.

All welcome to compare obsessions.
