I was thrilled to open my First Legion newsletter today for several reasons but in particular to find a preview of the "rest of the story" for FL's Highlanders.:cool:

I knew it in my bones that FL would not fail to deliver the fighting part of the Highlanders and these bonnie laddies look like they are more than up to the task. The annoucement says there will be some 14 additional figures coming in January 2011 that will allow for the creation of a full 4 rank line of battle or 4 rank square in conjunction with the existing command and standing figures. Aye, one thing for certain, there are no skivers, tatty tartans or squeefs in this lot o' wahoo Gordons.:D:D

I think the sapper really personifies the 'fighting Scot' idea. Excellent looking figure.

The Sapper figure's pose is truly outstanding. Even if I don't get the Highlander figures, that is a must have stand alone quality figure for me. I think that guy was in my college at university but with a beer bottle in one hand :D

I think the French Line Sapper should be worried.;):D I would also suggest that when he arrives, you break out the haggis, neeps and tatties. He does not look like one you would want to leave hungry.:D

Sweet !! This look Great... well what do you expect from the industry leader in quality to cost ratio .. Bring on that mounted colonel .. Man.... with every release they just keep pulling farther and farther ahead of the rest :D All the best Gebhard

I really like the way this is shaping up. The British Guards started with 17 figures and added 2 for a total of 19. Of those, 2 were standard bearers, 1 drummer and 1 captain, which leaves 15. We already have the Scot ensigns, drummer and captain so the new 14 should have much the same variety and flexability of poses as did the Guards, plus we have the backline figures. Now the issue is waiting until my Birthday.;):D

These look like an outstanding addition to this range, this may just be the catalyst for me to dabble in FL. Alby

Order some of the highlanders currently in stock. Just look in pictures at how the kilts were painted, and compare it to what other manufacturers are doing... You won't go back :)

Cheers,

Alex

I think you are quite right. Try Alex's suggestion, I would bet you won't be disappointed.;):D

This sort of has to do with the thread, but now that another company is releasing the Gordon Highlanders, I would love to see the other highland regiments represented. It is WAY far above my painting skills to change the tartans, but I think that it would make a great display to have The Black Watch, The Gordons and the Camerons colors and tartans on line.
This is just a wish for sometime down the road.

I have that wish for the Camerons for their actions at Busaco, Foz d'Arouce, Burgos, Nivelle, Toulouse and especially Fuentes d'Onoro, not to mention Quatre Bras and Waterloo.

Bill,

For your dedication to the Peninsular theatre, I hope you get your wish ;)

Cheers

Gents,

With a birthday and Christmas coming up, & with the Aussie dollar hitting parity with the Greenback … it may be a very good time to do so. Cheers, Alby

Sounds good to me mate. I plan on working the Christmas and Birthday thing for some of these as well; if I had the dollar advantage, I'd surely use that too.;):D

There is now a pic of the upcoming 14 figures on the FL website. They do look good and will make a rather impressive display when posed with the previous Highlanders. I especially like the two-figure offering!

Great intelligence Noah; you must have a spy eye with alarm connected to the FL site.:p:D

Of course you forgot to mention the firm release commitment for the first Brunswickers for this year, as well as these blokes:eek::cool::D
