New Fury Tank - First Image! (1 Viewer)

UKSUBS; I don't own any of the old K&C D-day sets as the uniform colors were too far off for my taste. I have posted photos of Waffen SS Panzer officer WS223-2 and the Panzer Kommander sets that I do own and consider them to be well done. I like lifelike poses; not marching or saluting figures. I generally find TCS figures more to my taste because the colors are accurate and the weapons are in scale with the figure. I buy K&C figures when they meet these criteria. Figarti and TG figures are not to my taste but I like their armor. My favorite TCS figures to date are the Patton 4 star General figure and the US and Panzerwaffe reloading sets. I really like the K&C WWI figures. I have FW011 and FW094 Field Marshall Makinson and an Infantry officer that I display with my Marklin artillery pieces. My display space is limited so I only have a few pieces from many different periods; Romans, Vikings, Knights, WW I, WW II and Modern Armor. A 1/32 Viking longship takes a lot of space! 1/32 Castles take a lot of space! I have to start reduceing my areas of interest in military history.
To be honest I don't see how you can say the new set are better than the old set if you never own them , the good thing about kc figures is they stay the same so there no problem mixing old sets with new , your coming out with bold statement but not backing it up with facts

Hey guys,

You're hijacking my Fury pictures with this debate; and personally, ruining all the Fury fun. Where's that "Dog Named Fury" when we need him? {sm4}

I can see many high quality photos on Treefrog Treasures, Sierra Toy Soldier, Hobby Bunker and Ebay. I do not have to own a figure to determine wheather the details, colors and proportions are accurate. The K&C and TCS figures I own meet my criteria. I do not buy those that do not! I have become increasingly selective and critical as prices have increased. I moved to 1/25 scale armor when prices of polystone pieces became excessive over the last 5 years up 100%. The 1/25 Tamiya, Academy and Tasca models cost less than $100.00 and have better accuracy and detail than polystone. Plus the figures look more realistic with the larger scale armor. K&C figure size has not remained the same over time. The figures started at 1/32 (54mm) scale and moved to 1/30 (60mm) scale and are now up to 1/28 (66-68mm) scale and still increasing in size! I really do wish the figures had stayed the same size over time; they now look silly with the armor, standing higher than the deck. I give K&C credit for finally addressing this problem with the Fury Sherman; which according to my calculations based on the measurements kindly provided by Western Outlaw is 1/28 scale, the same scale as the figures. The Fury Sherman and the new tank crew figure sets DD280-DD282 are scale compatable and look very realistic. I do not own them yet but Western Outlaws excellent photographs have convinced me they are very nice pieces.

In the movie the infantry soldiers seems to be BEHIND the tank - not in the front {sm4}

More great photographs Western Outlaw.
Thanks Katana, and others who have commented.

What is your opinion of the quality of the latest K&C D-Day figures.
First , let me say that I just started collecting K&C's D-Day figures over the last 4-6 months) so I have a very modest collection. Getting off-topic, but since you asked:

My oldest figure set is DD088 GI Tank Crew released in 2008. In terms of scale and look compatability, the figures blend in nicely with newer US D-Day figures.

I absolutely love DD184-DD188 (some pictured below). They are all good quality figures and I like the $42 price tag (released in 2012; all of which are still available).

Jackson 5 by Western Outlaw, on Flickr

In terms of more recent figures,

DD227 Tommy Gunner from 2014 ($45) is a very nice figure; mold, face, and paint quality.

D-Day (1) by Western Outlaw, on Flickr

I was (a little) disappointed with the paint quality of DD273 "The Sarge" (in addition to change to a green/grass base) and more so with DD275 Capt. Dale Dye both of which are $49. (pictured below). The paint seems duller. My Dale Dye also has a strange; although slight, lean which doesn't seem like a mold design???

DD262 War Daddy was done nicely (paint quality and mold - my favorite of K&C's newer D-Day figures (not because of movie or actor)). He came out very well:

I'm honestly not sure if I'm going to buy the new Tank Crew sets (DD280-DD282). I don't like the price of $49.50/each ($99/pair) and if I buy one, I would be tempted to purchase all three. DD228 and DD229 Tank Rider Sets 1 & 2 are a nice alternative. Although not standing, they are a little less in price and have some nice poses. I own one of the two sets. I also appreciate action poses vs. figures standing around; and with K&C's movie figures, we see a lot of these.

In terms of overall scale and style compatibility among the figures I've mentioned (spanning 2008-2015/16), they all look good with one another (aside from the patches of various divisions).

My D-Day Collection (1) by Western Outlaw, on Flickr

In my humble opinion, prices have unfortunately gone up without much "bang for your buck" (figure wise and not taking the Paratroopers into consideration) and paint quality has slipped a little (based on the figures that I own; although War Daddy is very nice). I believe scale has remained pretty consistent.

These figures remain my favorite of the US D-Day collection:

Good point and noted; will have to remember when I photograph.

I agree about the movie troop deployments; but in reality a squad doing recon or on patrol do not follow the armor. Also any grunt will tell you that armor attracts artillery fire; being close is not good!

Don't agree and wonder if your buy the Fury tank if it so perfect ?

UKSUBS; I never said it was perfect. I said it was very good and better than past K&C examples of the M4A3E8 76mm HVSS Sherman tank. I already own a fine example of this model Sherman and I have posted a photo of it with TCS figures on the General Matt Discussion thread. I would appreciate your observations and comments on it and the TCS figures. The tank is Die-cast metal with working suspension and tracks and it even has an engine. Regards

The DD179 ...$205.00 Sherman was a well done Tank. Being the "Fury" Sherman ...$219.00 is based off of that platform with the added details to replicate the Fury movie tank
for $14.00 dollars more it seems to be a good deal to me. Hoping to pick up mine next week !

Yeah, I may need to pick one up. It would be my first tank purchase. But then I would have to pick up the Kelly's Heroes tank and the figures too. Then the bank, then the Panzer to create the scene. So, one tank purchase may become three...

As I remember that scene, they were supposed to help the infantry clear the woodline. If the Germans were not likely to have antitank weapons, leading with the tanks would be a prudent tactic. If they were suspected of having infantry weapons that could penetrate armor, stopping the tanks outside of range of those weapons and using them as a base of fire to suppress while the infantry maneuvered to flank the German AT weapons would be the preferred tactic. Maneuvering the Infantry in front of the tank masks its machineguns...

He is quite the ferocious 40lb. FURY and I bet in a mock battle he would probably win!

Really great photos Western Outlaw, they really show the figure details in excellent resolution and color. Zeiss lenses are the best! I really like the new US tanker releases as they are in perfect size relationship with the M4A3E8 Sherman. Also with the Jackson Tank Destroyer. Very realistic dioramas!
