New Grass Mat w/Road - Build-A-Rama! ! ! (1 Viewer)

Antoher great find. I was wondering, will you be able to design a continous road for two or three mats? That would make a great diorama for a wagon train.

Hi Guys,

Here is another variation of the grass mats we will have.

On Ebay now:

Congratulations, Mark!

This is not only THE most beautiful diorama accessory I've seen, but it is perfect for all ages, and being a collector that collects only Dark Ages toy soldiers, I know this is not always the case with diorama accessories. I'll buy a few grass mats for my collection, if you don't mind!

The Battle of Kursk comes to mind with these new mats.
Really sharp looking.

The road mats are a really nice looking accessory. They compliment the grass mat and the desert mat and the stream mat.

These new mats are a delightful gift to the guy who wants "instant scene", or they can be used with other materials to create a professional looking diorama. At first glance they seem a bit pricey, but if they are near as nice in person as in the photos these would be a great investment to enhance our soldier/model displays.

I'm saving some pennies and will be hoping to order some before long.

Just got the road mat last night. I will post photos as soon as Easter fades a little more... Will go very well with everything from old wagons to M1a1's coming down the road or track. I have had nothing but positive experience with Mark, his products and service. The best is that the mats don't SHED!

As promised, this mat, while not the main event, is superb for a variety of displays. I can't wait to really mix it up!

A question that has come up for me is what is the best way of attaching multiple mats together? Do you tape the backs with something and if so, what is the best tape to use?

You could tape the botttom of the mat with a duct tape. Then brush the the grass with a regular hair brush to hide the seams.

Bill,
I just place them together, with a little overlap between them to hide any seamage. It seems to work for me with quick setups. The idea of double/single sided tape is excellent for more permanent displays. The material is easily brushed to cover edges/seams. Hope this helps.

I wondered about that. How does that work if you later want to glue the mat to a board?

I'm also going to experiment and try to give the road ruts some shine or gleam to give it a wet/muddy appearance. Maybe some gloss clearcoat .

I would use hot glue, not spray, only because the mats are very porous and would most likely wick up the spray adhesive onto the top side.

In that case, remove the duct tape, glue the mat to the board and align the seams of the 2 mats. when dry simply brush the "grass" in one direction and it will blend the grass into one, hiding the seams and looking like it's one piece.

I have seen BAR's excellent Desert Mat,and was just wondering if they will be doing one with a road through it,or will collectors be creating their own Desert roads on this Mat?.

We have new mats coming out real soon and a Desert w/Road has a good chance of making the cut.

Pictures will be up real soon!

Thanks
