Three recently finished figures

2nd picture New Hope Design - General Harold Alexander , British Army, North Africa 1942
3rd picture New Hope Design -Lieutenant General Sir William Slim ,British 14th Army ,1942

Nice work Kirk!

That Slim figure is a favorite. I've been chasing one for a while.

I haven't seen the Alexander figure before and it looks like a nice sculpt.

Thanks Scott , I've had these castings for over 20 years and really enjoying the painting again.

I like the Alexander figure .The Slim figure is nice but the uniform is very plain.

Now working on 4 NHD Yeomanry figures, Lots of lace and frogging to deal with. You have the same with your current project

I'm really way behind in posts on this forum, I seem to have lost it on changing laptops, however, catching up now. Am I right in thinking the New Hope figures were taken from the Osprey 'Men-at-arms' series? If so the illustrations will give you colour schemes? I seem to remember them all illustrated in a catalogue, which I can no longer find. It's just a job of tracking down the right book in the series.

Correct, the NHD series is based on the Osprey books, and if a figure doesn't depict an exact illustration, the info the relevant Osprey number should be enough, along with the instructions included in the kit, to paint the figure.

I had a recollection that NHD even used the Osprey numbering scheme for its catalog, but looking at one of the kits I have close at hand, "MA0925 Prussian Pioneer, Infantry Regiment No 6. Circa 1756", that designation doesn't match the three Osprey volumes I have on Frederick the Great's army, either by volume numbers or by specific subject. There is a pioneer (sapper) depicted in the second book, "Infantry", but he's from a regiment other than IR 6. Maybe someone else will remember something better about the catalog designations.

I also recall seeing catalog pages that used b/w line drawings of the illustrations from various MAA books.

All Part N° beginning with a code MA xxxx are illustrating a Osprey Men at Arms in 3D

1974 Importing first figures from Old Guard (USA) but also making some own figures using free lance artist, who were sold in USA by Old Guard, they took the name Old Guatd as company name in England .

The connection with Old Guard ended in 1976 and they took the name of New Hope Design under their new name they makes thinks like : ( the ruins are DCS Belgium in plaster, early Verlinden production )

They also begon to import Deauville Mniatures from US and makes some figures under this name sharing the distribution with Deauville
They designed also a Nativity set made under the name Lotus
Also working on commission ....
And begin the Men at Arms série

What is Old Guard US or UK or Deauville, this is for the specialists

But again all MA xxxx are Men at Arms all other code are not

Hi Brad,

Somewhere on this forum a few years ago, I asked this same question, And nobody had the answer.

For years I was under the belief, as is Mirof that the Pioneer figure in the 7YW Prussian series was of REGT 22.

Some couple of years ago this IR 6 Pioneer started to turn up on ebay. So I got one. Nice figure with only 1 head in the kit (Grenadier) and, unlike the other Grenadier heads in the series, the faceplate is engraved. (big improvement!)

The "painting guide" with the figure is exactly the same as that for all of the other 7YW Prussians. And, the IR 6 Pioneer is not mentioned!!

This hobby is full of "mysteries" Can anyone solve this one: How does a "new" figure pop up in a series which has been dormant for years?

they seem to have a large proportion of the figures available, I cannot guarantee it is the whole range, as I am not an expert on the range. I haven't bought anything from them, but a number of my colleagues have, without any problems.

Yes, Mirof, I mentioned that in my post above. But my point is that the kit figure does not depict that pioneer, but rather, a pioneer from the Grenadier-Garde, so the NHD series does not appear to follow the MAA series exactly, illustration for illustration.

Second that. If I am not mistaken, SHQ Miniatures owns the range. If you visit SHQ's website, at http://www.shqminiatures.co.uk/Sitefiles/main.php?UID=2018090423272665.78.46.29, there is a link to contact them via email (in the left-hand menu on the main page). I used that a couple of years ago to ask about the range, and received a nice reply about availability and ordering.

Good point, Bob. The card definitely identifies the kit as a pioneer from IR 6. Maybe NHD issued the same figure with different designations? I haven't seen any deviations with the other NHD figures I have, but what I have is only a very small sample of their output.

Just saw mentioned in the upcoming issue of TSC magazine 94 that NHD will be revived!

That would be brilliant !!! There are so many of those figures made and from periods that do not fit in the popular eras.

I'll keep a lookout for my copy of TSC next week when I may get here, provided the mail gets through quarantine :)
