War of the Roses & Roundheads have been done by Britains

Agghh , seen the film Cromwell only a few weeks ago, really good battle scenes in it.
How about the Scottish Wars of Independence..longbows, knights , pikeman, archers....

That would a very fine addition likely requiring a change in purchase plans:eek: Conte has dabbled here but more with a Viking / Saxon focus. Here is a link to a nice site on the battle:

I think it would certainly be a neat addition. IMO though I think they would look good done in the style of the Bayeux Tapestry and perhaps in gloss :D

Has anyone in the toy soldier world done a line on the Mongol empire? Would this be something that would sell? Gengis Kahn and the Mongol hordes maybe?

Shiloh,
Black Hawk do a Custer range. I don't collect them, but they look pretty good in the photo's. Someone is also doing a Great Minnesota Raid line - might also be Black Hawk - not sure. Are these the lines you're referring to?
Cheers

You hit it square on the head Harry. Wouldn't stop K&C from doing old west thou would it?

Along the same lines as Hastings but different and also not previously done, I suppose it is to much to hope for a line of 6th century Britains vs Saxons, as brought to life by Bernard Cornwell in the Warlord Trilogy

or 9th Century Saxons vs the Danes, as covered by Cornwell's ongoing Saxon Chronicles

Both feature helmeted and leather and mail armored warriors with sword and shield and some armored horse with lance, shield walls, charges and single combats.:D

Wasn't that The Duke as "Attila The Hun"..??

Yes it was the Duke and it was terrible. The sad thing was that many people involved in this movie died of cancer as they were filming near where the military were conducting nuclear tests.I think the Duke played Genghis Khan.

I was in the cinema last night and seen a poster advertising a film called Mongol
about the young Genghis Khan. It is planned to be the first in a trilogy about Genghis Khan's life.
I was certainly planning on see this one. It may indeed spark some interest in that period.

I must admit it was one of the few films of The Duke that I could not watch. It was awful. Funny that how a great actor accepts such a plonker every once in a while.

Yes, Excellent suggestion, I'm just finishing "The Last Kingdom". As with all of Cornwells Books great, easy, fast paced read. Would love to see K&C Vikings.

I would think that Cortes vs the Aztec, Incas and Mayans would be interesting to produce. Not many have dwelled into this arena. Also, of interest to me is the Spanish Civil War and how it came just before WWII. Another area of interest is the Japanese - CHina war. Let's see what happens.;)

That would be an interesting line with Incas, Aztecs etc... I would probably put some money into that.

Ah, thanks, great to know there are some fellow Cronwellophiles here.:D Can you imagine a Derfel and Uhtred fully outfitted in their finest leather, polished mail with gold insets, gold trimmed greves and plumed helmets (with their contempories of course)? I know that would change my buying priorities.;):D

The Saxon series gets better with every book BTW, I am just starting Sword Song.

I completely agree Shiloh. In fact, when my new thread finally appears, you'll see that I think a Louis Lamour Old West line would be an excellent new range for K&C to offer us. The possibilities are almost limitless.

Arab-Israeli wars are a great choice!!!!

I am a bit biased being Israeli :)

The arab-israeli war would be interesting.

The Israeli victory in the 6 day war was indeed staggering. (and i'm a muslim)

Being a muslim, unlike common perception, does not automatically make all muslims pro-arab. Many more educated muslims know the distinction of being pro muslim and pro arabs. In fact, many of our prophets are Jews.

So i have no problems if K&C goes down this path.

Interesting comments regarding the Arab-Israeli wars. For someone interested in armored warfare this definitely has to be up there. While the WWII battle of Kursk is often touted as the biggest tank battle in history I think the title belongs to the 1973 Arab-Israeli War.
