New Italian Folgore Parachute Brigade set (1 Viewer)

Seems to me more like a "Nembo" (a second para division created in 1942) soldier fighting alongside the germans in the Anzio - Nettuno theatre...by the way his particular "shoes" are tipical of a hot climate , so i say it is from the tunisia theatre of war , it is useless to repaint the soldier because the cut of that garment is typical of the Camo Smock..it' s too long to be a Sahariana jacket.

I will have to check my sources, but as I recall the jump smock in Italian camo pattern was introduced in 1942.
Prior to that it was made in grey fabric.
Later in the war 43-44, during the fighting in Italy it was not uncommon to see Italian Paratroopers wearing a combination of Italian camouflage jump smocks along side german splinter camouflage 2nd pattern jump smocks.

Yes Ken i was writing it too the smock is called M1942 but i presume it wass issued in 1943 maybe for the last stages of the african campaign and to blend with the more mediterranean countryside of Tunisia..by the way this set is more like a mix of various soldiers , only 2 are unmistakably Paras..the one chargin' with bayonet and the one with the camo smock, the other could be even a SAS and the one with the tropical helmet is infantry.I'm not critical by the way..in the next future will follow maybe other mixes to balance all. Definitely a good set.

Hello guys,

Thank you for the help about the Folgore. We've checked the all the information available (not much), and we decided to change the camo for the figure throwing the granade, for the following one, the earliest one WWII:

About the idea that they didn't wear a smock, Concord book Axis Forces in North Africa 1940-43, by Claudio Antonucci, says that they were worn, but rarely.

They probably wore it in the rare ocassions that they felt cold.

We'll also change the color of the beret, to a sand color, more appropiate for summer.

For those who thought that the guy firing his gun, with a wool cap looks like a SAS, he is wearing a British cap, captured in battle, which was quite common for the war in the desert.

In the following sets of Folgore, Ramcke, Bersaglieri or DAK (we plan 3 or 4 of each), and for all figures that were in the desert for the war, we will continue using captured features since it was a common practice for both sides.

We will try to add a brief explanatio when we present future sets, so you can follow the path the sculptor followed to get to the set as we decided to release it.

Thank you all for your kind words and for the good feedback :)
