I've been enjoying the news about John Jenkins for a while now so I decided to join in. Thanks to everyone for the constant updates and photos - since Jenkin's own company website is rarely updated (can't blame him though I haven't worked on my own company's website for a while now - I'd much rather he be making the figures he has been). I started collecting Jenkins not long ago and was sad to see that many of the sets that drew me to the collection were already retired. I'm no stranger to Ebay so I've managed to pick up a few items at reasonably good prices. I did miss the Monongahela series for the most part - although I look forward to Braddock. John seems to take a great deal of his sculpting and designs from my favourite paintings and reference for this series. If anyone knows of any sets for sale, private collectors, Ebay offerings coming up, you're help would be greatly appreciated. No I'm not planning on reselling them - I would rather lose many (but not all) body parts than part with my collections. I still have toys from the 60's and 70's I've kept since I was a kid. I just love toy soldiers, always have and the French and Indian War is my main area of historical interest so the two combined is too hard to pass up, especially when done so well. Anyway, I hope to add in to many of the posts here. Thanks again for being a valuable resource. Cheers.

Welcome to the club. Now is a good time to collect the Plains of Abraham series. With all the sets still available and a lot of new releases coming in 2009 this series is looking like it’s going to be lots of fun to collect. Here are a few images of my POA collection so far. I really like how things are coming together.

High Michael and welcome. I appreciate the fact that you are now collecting JJD sets. I really appreciate your business and I want to let you know all the proceeds from those transactions have gone to funding my K&C Crusaders.

There is a shop in Gettysburg that sells JJ figures. They do not have a website - so you can sometimes find retired sets there. I stop in about once every two weeks. If there is something in particular you are looking for send me a PM and I'll let you know if they have it. They are sold out of the BM 01-03 and FM 01-04, but have most everything else. You can also call them direct at the Gettysburg Antique Center on Baltimore St.

Hi,

Thanks very much for the info. I've heard of the shop but since it didn't have website I could never get any info on it. I am primarily interested in the BM06 set - or any of the Monongahela series if I can get it at a good price. I started collecting late and now some of the secondary market prices are astronomical. I love the figures but they are getting expensive to find unless they are new sets. Any help you can give me would be much appreciated. Cheers, michael

Thanks for the greetings. The collection looks great. I'm desperately waiting to get mine up on proper shelves and to finish my collection. I think I'll be custom building the wall unit to house them. I enjoy the diorama side almost as much as collecting but there are a few sets I need to make my dioramas perfect. Monongahela was my battle of interest and when I found someone who not only covered that battle but the entire FIW I couldn't help but collect them. Jenkins has done a great job and hopefully he inspires more manufacturers to add more depth to the FIW. Pleasure to meet you, hopefully we have many more opportunities to connect. Cheers, michael

The Toy Soldier Shoppe in Milwaukee carry Jenkins. I believe John Jenkins was at his table at the Chicago Show. They might have some retired sets.

Thanks very much for the lead. Much appreciated. Cheers, ssorc1

I checked the Antique Center out today. No BM-06's, but they do still have some FM-03 and FM-04s. Also BM-04. They have some of these listed above retail price in the $90 range. They also still have the rare QR-01 set which was supposedly limited to about 130 sets released (even though the cert card says 250).

Thanks very much. The QR01 set would be hard to pass up. I'll try and contact them. Much appreciated. You made my day. Cheers, ssorc1 (michael)
