Good morning everyone from a very cold Northern California, where it is 40 degrees F outside. Here are John’s latest releases. I hope you will enjoy them as much as I do. This month there is a lot of great things to choose from. I am really torn between the Snowshoes fight scene, the camp scene or the British Line Infantry. Good news is I have the whole month to decide.

We will have them on the web site later today.

Best regards

Battle on Snowshoes 1758
As darkness began to fall, the French forces knew they had to make a final assault if they were to completely overthrow the Rangers. The 2 forces were not more than twenty yards apart, and with a final push the French and Indians were soon on top of the remaining Rangers.
Rogers gave the order for a general retreat,
“I now thought it most prudent to retreat, and bring off with me as many of my party as I possibly could, which I immediately did; the Indians closely pursuing us at the same time, took several prisoners.”
During this retreat the legend of Roger’ Slide was born, of his escaping the pursuing Indians by sliding down the steep precipice on the east face of Bald Mountain.

THE RAID ON ST. FRANCIS
Meanwhile back at the British Camp!
As was mentioned last month for soldiers cooped up in the isolated garrison forts in the wilderness there was little to do in the off-duty hours but eat, sleep, gamble and drink!
Certainly, playing cards and dicing for money topped the list of favorite off-duty pastimes for soldiers shut up in frontier garrisons, especially on the rare occasions they were actually paid!
At Fort Stanwix during the winter of 1758/59, The local Major was disturbed to learn “that their’s a great deal of gaming among the men both in the barracks and the Guard room by which there is a good deal of money loss’d and gaind”
The Major had to strictly forbade such gambling practices and told sergeants and corporals to clamp down or be “Severely Punished”, and put under arrest themselves.

According to orderly books, companies were organized “into Messes allowing six men to a tent” and “the camp necessaries …..given out accordingly.”
Orders also revealed that new tents were “first to be dipped in salt water, to prevent their being mildewed.”
Old worn out tents were recycled, “cut down, washed and made into short drawers.”

Very nice sets! Thanks for posting these. Robert Rogers set is a must!

Great stuff as always. The Rogers set will go fast. Only 350!

WOW!!!!

Thanks for the pics Mike.

John is really working his butt off again.

UNREAL!!!!

11 new figures....a celebrity set and 3 tents.....John must sit at his sculpting table all day long.

I guess we all knew a "Robert Rogers" figure was going to make an appearance soon...he looks great too....swinging that hatchet....sorely needed.

The poses of the "line infantry at the ready" of Barrell's own for the Jacobites are great poses too...I want multiple of those for sure.

I want the "wounded grenadiers" of the Royal Scots for Chippawa....definitely 1 set of those.

The card players will make a great set....complimenting the "merry grenadiers", so I want one of those.

Definitely one set of Halkett and son for B of M......a beautiful set.

Finally....I guess all 3 tents.

Mike....very astute observation about the tents.

TENTS A&B are generic tents suitable for AWI, Napoleonic and ACW (Comment from Mike Is this a hint of things to come??????????)

I don't collect Quebec....but the grenadiers firing is a really nice set.

I wonder if John will announce how many of each collectors' club set are going to be produced?

I wonder if John will announce how many of each collectors' club set are going to be produced?

It was my understanding that when you received your collector's set.....

it would come with the regular card of authenticity and production #......

for example:

This particular boxed set is number 191 of a collector's Edition of ____.

I can't see any reason he wouldn't disclose it.

I have a question.Would Barrell's uniform be right for the FIW or did the uniforms change between 1746 and 1755.
Mark

Does anybody know if BCH05 comes with the extra rifle for the wounded guy?

I'm guessing it doesn't...it says 2 pieces and doesn't show it in the pictures.

Thanks for great pictures and advance notice. This is going to be a good month for j.j. MIKE save some money for some film. I ALREADY SEEN WHAT YOU ARE ORDERING. I would love to see your blockhouses....maybe I can steal some ideas from you....can you show any photos please...

and I replied to your message with an email....maybe you can get it easier.....maybe your son can help you find it.:D

What can you say about that SRR-10 set.

I think it is John best looking set to date, love the action, it comes alive just looking at it.

Andrew

Great new set of releases yet again! John is doing an fantastic job.

I just love the paint masters of the Halkett set. I look foward to getting mine hopefully in January or February. I sure hope Collector's Club Set #2 is Monongahela as well.

Mike, as usual, the pictures you have been posting are incredible! Good job.

Well, back to the grind.

Darrell

http://www.fifedrum.org/crfd/BD_1.htm

Fife and drum does not list this regiment for FIW, least in North America.

Wonder site for regimental colors and some where and when they were stuff!!!

But the 4th regiment foot is shown for the AIW - Lexington.

http://www.kingsown.net/about.htm is an reactment group for the 4th, but light infantry, not regulars. Basic colors seem the same .....

Regimental Flag and Drum likely changed --- see the Assumption Tabs, and you can compare regiments that were in both locations like the 44th and see minor differences... Nothing that I would be able to spot!!!!
