One can only "wonder" :rolleyes2:^&grin

KC has explained the price increases several times. Bunch of different reasons ranging from increased Chinese labor costs, cost of materials going up, cost of doing business in China in general, etc. -- Al

I think I will just print off the new releases....and keep them in a binder ...that way I can look at them .....and it will be cheaper ...not to mention the space that i will save !!!!!!!!!!!!!!:wink2:

Hello "Lancer":

Yes, as noted before at the Forum and else where in newspapers, TV, etc the cost of labor in China has really gone up a lot especially these past few years. May as well get use to it. On the plus side some American businesses are moving production back to the USA which will help increase jobs here.

If things keep going at this rate, Just produce everything in England or the U.S.
That will teach the Chinese laborers !!!! I know......The cost of picking up and moving all of the equipment and machinery........ {eek3}

Cheers,

Please keep in mind that other companies are also raising prices too while others are holding steady-but for how long? As an example, not too long ago The Collectors Showcase produced the American Stuart Howitzer (Normandy & Winter versions) inclusive of three (3) figures for $155.00 retail. Their upcoming Greyhound which too will be released in two variants has only one (1) figure yet retails for $165.00-just a factual example and the way things are which we have no real control over. Of course, I know people will say we can control this by curbing our purchase behavior-in my case, I used to purchase sets that I could work into my displays even if they were historically a bit off or incorrect as in using the Britains short barreled Winter Stalingrad Panzer set in a Bulge diorama simply because their were not enough "winter" choices at the time. That set has since been sold and with so many more diverse and more historically correct releases, I can now be very selective with my purchases and not settle and make sets "fit in". My other sanity secret has been to stay true to my specific narrow collecting focus (44-45 Ardennes & WW II aviation) but that has been come difficult with Figarti, TGM, CS and of course K&C producing a lot of wonderful scale historical reproductions! I did not mention FL since they do not produce items within my area of interest. In short, higher prices require tougher decisions which is ok by me as long as the quality and accuracy match the price. I also do not have to have a piece in my possession to enjoy it which makes seeing the pieces/sets at the shows that much more enjoyable.

Everything that I buy now is WWII European Theater .This includes "Battle of the Bulge" , "D-Day" , "Berlin 38" , "Fall of Berlin 45" , "Volksturm 45", Luftwaffe and now RAF.
For me I have plenty of choices popping up as far as new items being produced.
Quite happy with all of them !!!! :wink2:

Great post

Two thoughts.
First, as I see it, the Toy Soldiers price increases (rate) are much smaller then the price increases in other (similar) hobbies. Along with collecting Toy Soldiers I love to build model ships. The price of a "average model kit" not to long ago, used to be under $20.00. I am speaking of near top line folks like Tamiya, Airfix, Revell (Germany), Hasegawa, Fujimi, Heller. Today many kits cost $40's; $50's; $70's or up to $200 - $300 {eek3}.
Check out the magazine Fine Scale Modeler for example.

Second, there are various manufactures that offer a Price/Quality trade off. NOT to knock anyone manufacturer so please don't take this wrong, but for almost every era or historical event you can find probably a dozen different vendors for those figures. In the AWI space some of the First Legion figures are over $50-$60 per figure while Conte or Britain is a much lower price. The detail and quality of K&C and FL are incredible, the detail of the others is price comparible.

Still, rather than three or fous sets per month I am down to specialize purchases or looking for that special figure that fits my current dio build situation. But I still am having FUN!!!!

Hard to afford these prices unless for a really nice figure. Admittedly Napoleonic are generally more ornate and intricate to paint than say a WW2 or ACW figure so I can see them costing more than one of wellingtons Highlanders.
Prices have surely gone up in China but I notice that Collector showcase and conte collectables are keeping prices down for their romans

I envy you guys who are disciplined enough to collect one line or era.:({sm2}

Seeing as the TS companies don't own the factories they use, what stops them from moving production out of China? Costs rise every month in a bad economy which slowly eliminates collectors on a limited budget.
