What I know is that the Chinese middle class is expanding and therefore cheap labor is disappearing. Moreover, Mainland China is now slowly tightening the noose on businesses in HK (supposedly to have full autonomy when the Brits turned over HK to China).

Hmmm...is that the reason why KC is gradually shifting its base of operation in the U.S.? Well, Argentina (Hello, Ana!) is closer and they can produce quality models at par with HK craftsmen (or even better?) at almost a similar price...just an observation on the current international business trends and my POV.

Thats not it all lines start out at a low price then they increase....eg look at the new Alamo set single figures are $19.00 as all single figures from each set start out. I know prices have increased because of China but as a general rule they start out lower then go up from there.

Wellington, have you considered that what you are proposing is not realistic. Prices are set lower to attract collectors who otherwise would not bother, especially when their are so many options for collectors in today's expanding market.

Since K&C does not offer discounts or other customer friendly purchase options, I think they are attempting to attract attention and draw collectors to the series. I really don't see a hidden agenda or some kind of trickery. It just makes good marketing sense to start low and see what the market will bear as time goes on. Pricing is more dependent on us consumers and our willingness to buy at certain prices and not at others than it is on manufacturers setting an arbitrary price.:)

I think the Alamo is very reasonably priced. If you look at Dickens series, those figures started around $18 - $22. If anything, the Alamo is underpriced, taking into account inflation.

Sceic2..that was my point to draw a person in to get them interrested...nothing wrong with it, just wondered if anyone noticed.

Its a good point Wellington, and you are right, many of us, myself included, hadn't noticed. Its just more evidence that Andy knows what he is doing as a business man. He draws the collectors in, hooks them, and then ups the ante. Pretty clever, following the tried and true techniques of the dope pusher to feed our addictions.

And at that price I don't mind converting some of these figures to French line troops;) And I'm going to do just that.
