I do have a question to Richard or Ken about the new matte Durbar Elephant.
On the promotional picture in the new Britains catalog it seems that the flagpole is somewhat bent above the bearer's hand.
In the actual piece will the flagpole be made out of steel or is it casted in the normal white metal alloy that is used for the figures?
The relatively heavy flags often make the poles a very weak spot on many flagbearers when casted in the soft white metal.
Thanks for any info and this Elephant is a very very beautiful piece.

Thanks for bringing that up Konrad. I had wondered about that myself. It is a beautiful piece and looks like I have may have found a way to be able to start this new series. My only "negative" would be the elephant being metal. I think resin would have made it a bit more affordable to more collectors. Maybe in the future??? I guess we will have to see.

Hi Guys,

I am sure this question and many others will be answered as soon as Richard is back from the UK.

Also remember this photo was of the pre-production model so they are quite likely to address this issue,

All the best

Dave

While I love Metal Elephants, it does put the price range right up there with Marlborough, etc. Last years VC elephant was very affordable due to its composition.

The elephant pictured was the resin paint master and the flagstaff distorted under the photo floods. The production piece will be all white metal with a rod used for the flag. This one slipped by with all the hustle and bustle getting the catalog out.
Sorry!
Ken

I think we (myself included) need to exercise patience until the actual piece is in the shops (although it is very hard :D)

I realise these are production pieces mainly to "give an idea" of what the item will look like when finished. There have been a couple of items that have been rectified when the item was actually released.

Thanks for the info Ken, I knew you wouldn't disappoint !!!

Found this photo in an old steamer trunk that once belonged to Lord Curzon :)
