Besides the new Sherlock Holmes a couple of other movies of interest to me are Eagle of the Ninth about Roman legionnaires in Britain and Ridley Scott is remaking Robin Hood starring as Robin...Russell Crowe. That should be a sight.:D:D:D Peter Jackson has one called Lovely Bones about a girl who is murdered but her spirit can see the aftermath of the tragedy.

Thanks for the heads up on the Roman movies mates. Of the two Centurion sounds the best since it would seem to involve some real action by the Legion. Interesting production trailer.

The Eagle of the Ninth seems more of a pure adventure / hero movie according to the summary I found below.

"The Eagle of the Ninth is set in the dangerous world of second-century Britain. In 140 AD, twenty years after the unexplained disappearance of the entire Ninth Legion in the mountains of Scotland, young centurion Marcus Aquila (Tatum) arrives from Rome to solve the mystery and restore the reputation of his father, the commander of the Ninth. Accompanied only by his British slave Esca (Bell), Marcus sets out across Hadrian’s Wall into the uncharted highlands of Caledonia – to confront its savage tribes, make peace with his father’s memory, and retrieve the lost legion’s golden emblem, the Eagle of the Ninth. Donald Sutherland portrays Marcus' uncle Aquila, who has retired in Britain; Mark Strong is cast as Guern, an ex-soldier who holds crucial information about the Ninth."

I was reading an article about Mark Strong is how I learned about the new movies as he is in Sherlock Holmes,Eagle of the Ninth and Robin Hood.Whoo,he is a busy man.He is also in another one called Kick-***.

I read somewear that the new Robin Hood Movie starts of with a sea born invasion of England :D.
Also in 2010...Mel Gibson it to Direct a New Viking movie staring Leonado Decaprio :D

That is a joke, right?

Is it a joke that he's playing the part of a viking?

Or that he is not a good actor?

Guess you've never seen Body of Lies, or The Departed, the latter of which he should have won an oscar for.

It's amazing how much grief he takes over Titanic, like it's his fault it became a blockbuster/chick flick....................

Funny that there are two movies in production at essentially the same time dealing with more or less the same subject, sort of odd, but Centurion looks to be the better movie, already dropped it into my Nexflix basket...........

George I am afraid we seemingly see differently on the lad's talent as an actor and which oscars he should or should not have gotten.:) Yes I have seen both of those, and indeed his preformance in both was less painful to me than it was in Blood Diamond or The Aviator or that waste of film, the hood version of Romeo and Juliet, but he simply grates on me whenever I see him. Interestingly, I haven't even seen Titanic so that one has nothing to do with it either way and I did enjoy Body of Lies and The Departed but it was in spite or rather than because of his involvment. So unfortunately, yes I hoped it was a joke that he was starring in a new movie that I otherwise might like to see.;) I guess we won't bump into each other in the line for this one.:D

You know, I really have to agree with George on this one. The strange thing about it is that for the longest time I had something against Leonardo Dicaprio and didn't think he was a good actor. In fact I'm still not sure he's a great actor. And then I realized that many of the movies that he's in are some of my favorites. To name a few that I have watched over and over...

Body of Lies
Blood Diamond
Departed
Catch Me If you Can
The Aviator
Gangs of New York

So whether he's a good actor or not a good actor is pretty much irrelevant. He's in good movies and now I'm at the point where if he's in a movie, I'm pretty sure it will be good.

Well we certainly don't need to agree on everything.;):D I would be pleased to give you my copies of Blood Diamond, The Aviator, Catch Me if You Can and Gangs of New York, if I had any that is.:p:D I did enjoy the other two but I feel no pressing need to see them again any time soon. I am afraid I do not share your optimism.;):D

Matt...you really hit the nail on the head...I gave him no credit for years...but now I'm convinced...he is talented...

I think his pre-adolescent baby face turned me off....but I like his work now...

you left out Titanic as a biggie...but watch Basketball Diaries...one of his better...

he was very good in Gangs...but Daniel Day stole the show...:D

I think one of L DeCap. biggest problems was his baby face.He was suppose to be tough kid from the slums in Gangs and Titanic but he just didn't come across that way.He may not be the best actor but he's good enough to be in A list movies.

Spitfrnd;257099 I did enjoy [I said:
Body of Lies[/I] and The Departed but it was in spite or rather than because of his involvment.

Glad you enjoyed both movies "in spite" of his involvement as he was the main character in both movies.

He was brilliant in The Departed, end of story and I thought Catch me if you can was a very good movie, he played the character very well.

He has grown into a very talented actor is all.............

Well I won't mind that you like him so long as you don't mind that I don't; deal?;):D

Who is your favorite actor?
Mark
I don't have just one Mark.

My favorites no longer working include Gregory Peck, Lawerence Oliver, Gary Cooper, Jimmy Stewart, William Holden, Paul Newman, Robert Shaw, Steve McQueen, Cary Grant and John Wayne.

My favorite currently working actors include Jack Nicholson, Russell Crowe, Morgan Freeman, Denzel Washington, Harrison Ford, Gene Hackman, Kevin Spacey, Robert DeNiro, William Macy, Robert Duvall, Michael Caine and Michael Douglas.

Of course I am omitting some greats that I do also like but I would watch movies starring anyone of the foregoing just because they are in it. Needless to say, everyone has their own list and that is as it should be.;) And then there are the actresses.:D

That's a great list.Even though I don't think DeCaprio is a bad actor he has a long way to go before he can break into those lists.Do actresses have names ?I never noticed for some reason:D:D:cool::rolleyes:
