All,

The beginning of 2009 provides the collecting afficianado an opportunity to check out one of the Showcase's latest WWII vehicle additions. The Autoblinda AB43 with full turret interior, a removable front road wheel, 3 equiptment collections and 3 premium figures: all adding up to a must have vehicle that can be posed in a variety of diorama settings. We've increased the detail output once again on our models , and not only will you find weld beads but tire treads and typography have been included as well, opening hatches with three pivot hinging and additional weathering throughout. This product is scheduled for release in March.

Once again this is a limited edition of 300. And as we've seen with all of our vehicles they've been selling out. Also I've been making a point and will continue to price our products without any price increases. I realize that times are challenging enough without adding any more stress associated with acquiring our products, after all Im a collector too!:) So we'll gladly absorb any factory price increases to ensure our products get out to the collecting community with ease.

2009 is shaping up to be a bonanza year here at The Collectors Showcase, aside from adding to our WWII, Napoleonic and American Civil War genres we'll be growing two other historical periods as well. Collectors are demanding it of us, so lets do it. Be sure to add yourself to our four color catalog mailing list, just click the newsletter button on our website: www.thecollectorsshowcase.com

Thanks for all of your kind patronage and I look forward to a fantastic and fun 2009.

Happy Collecting!,

Brian

That certainly is one very detailed vehicle Brian. Thanks for sharing the sneak peek with us.

Yes indeed, thanks Brian. Looks like the tiger and Stug might be getting a little brother this spring. Especially if there will be a Winter version.

Yes, WINTER VERSION- please. I like the Feldgendarme fig as well.

I've been waiting for someone to make this vehicle. Very cool I want one!

Very nice..BTW I have one of your Tigers and it is a personal favorite...On the car..any chance for rolling wheels? Michael

I really don't think a WINTER VERSION is necessary for the AB43.. If you want to winterize your armour, just put the fake snow on it.. Besides, i havent seen too many pictures of a WINTERIZED AB43,, and i would know, because i know a little about italian armour..

FINALLY! Looks great Bri! Are you going to be doing this in the ITALIAN FRONT paint scheme?? Because most of the AB41 and 43's were used in Italy (In German service) from 43 to 45,, and some used in Yugoslavia for Antiparitisan duties,,, Not so much used in Normandy..

Very true, this of course is however the " continental " paint scheme we've chosen so in regards to traditional cammo this is it. We had to give this one a Normandy/Arnhem theme for obvious reasons: as most have Normandy/Arnhem set-ups they would need to add too, but its also meant and could be a Frundsburg vehicle. Frundsburg made their way through the Balkans ( where we suppose they could have aquired this addition ) from the Eastern front to the West. And of course that ties into their much fabled defence of Nijmegan and Arnhem which we've already added as franchises, so there you have it!:)

We also thought it might be nice to do a few other variants too:)

regards,

Brian

This is a very nice looking vehicle indeed. For me it marks a return to the quality of the Marder and armoured car CS produced sometime back now,as the Stugs in my view were a let down.Would welcome this model in my armoured forces:).

Rob

A great looking vehicle! Pricing? I still think the Marder is one of your best. My personal favourite at least.

Yes, but a "ANZIO" or "MONTE CASSINO" or "BATTLE FOR SICILY" series might do well.. The only reason most people have a Normandy diorama is because that is unfortunaly is what is made so often! I have never hear of the AB43 being used in Normandy! Also, do you plan on making more German parade figures in '09?

We'll definately continue the LAH review sets, I had no idea how popular they would be. So the answer would be yes.

Not sure i agree with that. Most of us who collect Normandy have a great interest in that Campaign and it is not because of what is produced, its because of a love of that moement in military history. It is one of the most famous campaigns in History on which the outcome of WW2 depended. I know you are very keen to get Italian stuff Daruss but it really is not the fault of us Normandy collectors.Toy soldier producers are always going to make items they know will sell the most. The fact is Normandy is more popular than the Battles you named above, whilst they were of course very important in their own right-it was on D Day that the world held its breath.:)

I would be surprised to see any evidence that this armored car saw service in Normandy. This is yet another odd armored car selection IMO. From what I've managed to find on it production was limited to around 100 units ('44/'45) and usage was by German forces in Italy. That said it's still a nice looking piece.

As for Frundsberg passing through the Balkens...

After rescuing the 1.Pz.Armee in April near Tarnopol in April 1944 the unit appears to have remained in the Ukraine until its transfer to Normandy.

On June 7 SS-Pz.Gr.Rgt.21 reinforced with elements of SS-Pz.Art.Rgt.10, SS-Pz.Aufk.Abt.10, SS-Pz.Pio.Btl.10 were moved to an area south/southeast of Stanislav. On June 8 the rest of the units were transferred to the north and on June 9 were quartered near Sokol (northeast of Lwow). Thus the division was split into two parts. On June 12 the entire division was ordered to transfer to France. It went into action June 29 against "Operation Epsom".
