New products at 2006 Chicago Show (1 Viewer)

Ken,

Very nice looking. I wish I could be there to see them in person :(

I think all you manufacturers are in cahoots to make collectors poor

Dear Steven,

Great research there! We will be arriving on the Wednesday and should have our room set up by lunchtime on Thursday so please drop round. I have your cavalry set already packed!

Yes we will be bringing all the sets you mentioned plus "some surprises"! One of which can be previewed here.

I look forward to seeing you all at sometime during the show.

This set is so new that it's not even on our website yet!

Have a safe trip up to the show.
All the best

Hi Ken...These are the best for this period hands down! You have really nailed some of the fine details and decoration. I did a very large 25mm Persian temple model for a museum a couple of years ago that included a few figures sculpted before the deadline for installation to give it life. Looking forward to seeing you in Chicago...The other Ken

Dear Santa.

I now have a revised Christmas list. Can I please have 2 Conte Omaha playsets, 1 TSSD playset, oh, and a partridge in a pear tree.

Don't need to worry about the 9 ladies dancing or the 8 maids a milking as I'm no longer in my twenties. Therefore I'm past it and haven't got the disposable income to afford them anyway:p

I don't suppose Chicago could be moved a little closer to the UK, could it?

Looking forward to the report / photos.

Simon

Dear Rick,
Will you just be showing the prototype?:)

For plastic collectors there will be a new Barzo set, don,t have a clue as to what it will be. And there will be a new TSSD release, hopefully a playset, I know what this is but don,t want to give it away.
Gary
I've heard the new playset is Tripoli. Don't hold me to it though.....

Rumors are swirling that Richard Conte is going to show up at OTSN with some new items, including the LONG awaited Omaha Beach Playsets 1 and 2; it has been confirmed that he does not have tables for the show on Sunday, but I know of one major player in the hobby who may serve as his "Showroom" on Sunday.

I really want to see Nick from TSSD's Tarawa Playset, with all new Marines, Japanese and terrain features. When I first became a dealer eight years ago, a friend of mine had approached Formtech and wanted to do two terrain features to use as the base for two playsets; a four foot by two foot Tarawa terrain item, including the famous seawall, complete with trenches, bunkers, etc and a four foot by two foot Stalingrad Factory complex. My hat is off to TSSD for doing both playsets. They seemed like good ideas at the time and Nick has followed through on them where my friend did not.

Warrior...

The BEST information I've been able to verify is as follows...take it for what it is worth:

RC will NOT be at the OTSN show in person. Conteco WILL be there. The two Bloody Omaha Beach playsets WILL be available for sale at the show, but in VERY limited numbers. I've not heard of any other new Conte items to be introduced at the show. Conteco -- under whatever name -- WILL have a table for selling on Sunday.

Oops, that may or may not be true. With the tiny quantity of sets being taken to Schaumburg there may not be any available for sale on Sunday...but that is just ME speculating. Don't know what other already released items may be going to the show.

If the Conte troops have a suite for the show, I've not been able to confirm that.

Terry

Richard Conte has been a positive factor in our hobby especially via-a-vis plastic. However, he does march to his own drummer; as you know, many promised items are very slow to appear. Richard also got pretty mad at the Hyatt and sent those of us in the Collectors Club a long letter as to why he would never go back to the OTSN show again. I asked him to consider attending the West Coaster since he is only 250 miles away and there are a lot of collectors who attend only the West Coaster, but he was noncommital and has not attended.

In short, I would be surprised to see him in Chicago. I hope I am wrong.

John Jenkins of John Jenkins Design e-mailed me and said he would not be attending the Chicago Show, but his new products would be carried by Sierra Toy Soldier and Hobby Bunker.:)

Thank you Ken for those kind words! Wow I would just love to see that temple model for sure. What museum is it in? Do you have any pictures of it by chance?

Look forward to catching up with you next week and of course to view of all your new splendid work "in the metal".

Sorry to hear you can't make the show Brad, hopefully we will meet you there another year.

Ken,
To further the Conte situation, I have been informed his products will be on display in Joe Bakers rooms and Richard will be there along with their sculptor, where he will be doing sculpting demos. The Omaha sets will be for sale and prototypes of numerous figures will be on display as well. This is the latest intel..............

Dear George,
I cannot find Joe Bakers name on last year's dealer list. What company or business is he associated with?:)

Steven...

Joe Baker is the Conteco webmaster and photographer, and will be 'hosting' or 'representing' Conte at OTSN.

Steven,
As Terry mentioned, Joe is Contes webmaster and will be the host for his products at the show. I have been told 20 to 25 of each set will be available. There will be signs everywhere I am sure directing you to Joe's rooms........

VERY nice tabletop vignette! Thanks!
I am a 'plain plastic' figure collector and look forward to the new releases of TSSD:

Toy Soldiers of San Diego.
I bought their "Road to Stalingrad" set in March at the West Coaster and loved it! Barszo buildings!
And speaking of WHOM... wonder what battle in what period of American history old Ron will honor with his annual playset this year at OTSN? "The Wind and the Lion", I hear???

On the Hobby Bunker forum, Richard Conte posted some information on his Spartans. They supposedly were shipped from the factory (in China) on 9/16. Look for his posts in the "Conte Collectibles" tread in the "New Metal Toy Soldiers" catagory.:)
