I know we bombard Andy all the time about wants and ideas - but, this Cinco de Mayo did make me think about the Second French Empire and NAPOLEON III :D

French Troops in MEXICO right now - I think would be welcomed by many Border States of the USA !

So - Andy - How about some FRENCH TROOPS from the Second French Empire ??

A little Cinco de Mayo history:

;) :) :D

Would they have been stationed far enough east to have run into Seminoles?

Dear Ron:

This would be an OK idea as far as I am concerned about early 1860's French Army in Mexico, but I doubt if Andy would be any more interested in doing that period of history than he is in doing the Korean War of 1950-1953 which he has no plans in ever doing per his comments to me about a year ago or so.

Best regards, Gary / "Iron Brigade" 5/6/2010

I have a book by The Company of Military Historians, titled Military Uniforms in America, Long Endure: The Civil War Period, 1852-1867. It contains uniform plates from the French invasion of Mexico. There are some colorful uniforms shown. Here is a quick scan of the Imperial Palace Guard
