Interesting point. Your percentage may be high but there is no doubt that the clean shaven Poilu was in the minority. Just perusing photos of the period prove the point. Good catch. -- AlNice figures!!
New indian are just Woaww!!!
The french of the great war are nice too, but there is a BIG historic mistake : more than 99% of the French "poilu" of 14/18 had moustache!!
Brilliant Great War releases, JJD is way ahead of everyone else in this regard.....:salute::

The name of the French soldier, Poilu, literally means 'hairy one'. Obviously the nickname came from the wide variety of beards and moustaches that the French soldier wore. While the facial hair was predominant, it was not 100% universal so there is no real reason to call the new JJD figures inaccurate or angst over the lack of facial hair on these particular examples. If the lack of facial hair is an issue for some, then, as mentioned, a little paint will solve the problem. Realistically, by late war, the French were out of men and had resorted to call ups of teenagers of varying ages, many of whom would not be capable of growing a bushy beard or moustache. I'm just happy to see JJD doing French soldiers. -- Al
Artillery, I know squat about WW1 artillery, any idea of what we could expect to see?
