New Releases For April 2014! (1 Viewer)

I don't collect French and Indian War but that fifer is excellent. Great looking piece; looks very nicely painted.

Nice figures!!

New indian are just Woaww!!!

The french of the great war are nice too, but there is a BIG historic mistake : more than 99% of the French "poilu" of 14/18 had moustache!!
Interesting point. Your percentage may be high but there is no doubt that the clean shaven Poilu was in the minority. Just perusing photos of the period prove the point. Good catch. -- Al

Simple correction with a little epoxy putty and brown paint. -A moustache is a very easy addition to any figure.

The name of the French soldier, Poilu, literally means 'hairy one'. Obviously the nickname came from the wide variety of beards and moustaches that the French soldier wore. While the facial hair was predominant, it was not 100% universal so there is no real reason to call the new JJD figures inaccurate or angst over the lack of facial hair on these particular examples. If the lack of facial hair is an issue for some, then, as mentioned, a little paint will solve the problem. Realistically, by late war, the French were out of men and had resorted to call ups of teenagers of varying ages, many of whom would not be capable of growing a bushy beard or moustache. I'm just happy to see JJD doing French soldiers. -- Al

Hi Pete,
If JJD comes up with some great artillery we are in for a great time. WW1 was for all purposes an artillery and machinegun war.....to be fair.....
Attached are some examples of WW1 artillery sets made by other manufacturers just to give us some idea of what could be the goodies yet to be roled out.....
Cheers

Wow! What a great collection you have. If only a few of these are produced by JJD I'd be very happy!

Pete

John's GREAT WAR additions to WWI era have been fantastic. I agree that any artillery sets would (should) be a must have.
Fingers (and toes) crossed!
