Good morning from a chilly Northern California, where the weather can be described as brisk.

John starts his world tour tomorrow, so I hope you will have an opportunity to visit with him at one of his stops along the way. You will be in for a real treat with lots of future, unannounced releases available to be seen in at least prototype form.

There are some terrific releases this month for under the Christmas Tree. Including the Jacobite Rebellion and the Knight of the Skies and some really short people.

Some of the Images where not available at the time of writing so watch for a further update.

Hope you enjoy the new releases, we should have these on the web site later this morning.

THE JACOBITE REBELLION 1745

Brigadier Humphrey Gore raised the 10th Dragoons in 1715 as part of the response to the Jacobite rising of 1715, although they did not see any action. In 1723 command of the regiment passed to Colonel Charles Churchill who was in turn succeeded by Field Marshall Viscount Cobham in 1745.
At the outbreak of the Jacobite Rebellion Cobham's were serving on the Continent in the War of the Austrian Succession as part of a British army under the command of George II's son, the Duke of Cumberland. When early attempts to stamp out the rebellion failed Cobham's was part of the large force shipped back to Britain under Cumberland to deal with the threat.
Cumberland had only three regiments of horse, Cobham's Dragoons, Kerr's Dragoons and Kingston's Horse. At the battle of Culloden Cobham's found itself in the unusual situation of being split between the two flanks of the army. Both parts were engaged with the rebel army and in particular the rebel horse and the small units of French troops sent to aid the rebels. With victory assured it took part in the pursuit of the broken rebel army, its troopers being the first Government troops to reach Inverness, the Jacobite headquarters before the battle.
After the battle the regiment played an active role in policing the highlands and the hunt for the fugitive Prince Charles Stuart, particularly along the Aberdeenshire shore around Stonehaven.

KNIGHTS OF THE SKIES

Fokker Dr.I 213/17 was flown by Ltn. Friedrich “Fritz” Paul Kempf.
Ltn. Kempf flew this machine and another one similarly marked “Kempf. Kennscht mi noch?”, translating to “Kempf. Remember Me?”. Dr.I 213/17 also carried Kette (flight) leader's streamers on the lower interplane struts.
Friedrich Kempf survived both world wars, and died in 1966.

From 1855 what are now known as The Royal Marines, were labeled The Royal Marine Light Infantry. They were to mainly be used in a skirmishing capacity in front of infantry. They were issued gray wool coats and trousers. The foreign service helmets were not stained, but kept white in keeping with the pristine Marine turnout.
The marines were in Gen. Graham’s square at El Teb. At Tamai in 1884 they formed the rear wall of Maj. Davis’s 2nd Brigade square. When the wild Hadenodoa warriors flooded into the square through the gap left by the Black Watch. The rear rank of the marines were compelled to turnabout and fight in both directions. At this time the Marines acted as a breakwater to steady elements of the York and Lancaster Regiment, and the Black Watch as they recovered to retrieve the situation.
The Marines were to take part in most of the major actions throughout the Sudan Campaigns.

Great releases! The Kempf Tripe is a sure must have as are the two half pilots. Also will be getting the Dragoon for the Jacobite series. Quite a fine looking figure. I think the Kempf tripe is fantastic looking. The colors of the Fokker camo and application technique used at the Fokker factory look accurate. It will be a good day when this aircraft is added to the other JJD tripes on the aerodrome. Kudos to John for supplying the half pilots. I have been waiting for these. ^&grin^&cool -- Al

hope we get pictures of RML-02...MAD-01...QFM-08 soon...it is a shame to see the Snow Shoe's series retired...

here we go...

I'm confused...I thought there were several Snow Shoe pieces still available...I don't understand how the entire series was retired in one fell swoop...

I hope there are some BCH artillery crew members coming soon...

this will make 3 guns (6 pounder-24 pounder and a 5.5 howitzer) for the British artillery forces and I only have 5 British crew members to man them...

Hi Mike,

I too was surprised at this retirement of the entire range. Maybe it had run it's course and John needed to take it out of the production pipeline to allow for all of the other series to be able to expand. While I liked the series, I never collected them. I really don't do any snow figure sets from any of the manufacturers. They are all really great sets, I just feel it locks you into one type of diorama, where as the the other sets can be mixed together to help make all kinds of set ups.

Just my thoughts. Maybe John will let you know at the show this weekend. And shouldn't you be packing? It's going to be cold.

Matthew

Mathew...I'm leaving Saturday afternoon...will arrive at 7PM in Newark...plenty of time to pack some warm clothes...hehehe...I may have dinner with JJ on Sunday night...at least we made plans...

you are right about the Snow Shoes figures...they really didn't lend themselves to other series...however I did use them in some dioramas of St. Francis...by concealing their snow shoes in groundwork...

still...I always hoped he would put out an occassional set of them here and there instead of giving them retired status...

I really like this howitzer.
I agree Mike we really do need some more British artillery crew for the 1812 period.
John went to the trouble of releasing a British limber set but where are the guys to look after the horses?
How about an 1812 British supply wagon as well?
If John Jenkins continues to produce British 1812 and keeps the prices as low as possible I'm buying them.

Agreed. All of the BCh, all of the Mahdists and Naval Brigade and Royal Marines, and all of the wagons are my "goals" for the next two years in non-Britains items.

Oh my....and its only 2nd of Nov! Love the Fokker & pilots, R Marines, Fuzzy Wuzzies and the Dragoon!
Need more space!!!!!

I would think retired means no more sets will be made, nothing new or restocking of prior sets, not that none exists in inventory. Once any existing inventory is gone, it's gone.

Evening All;
There will be two howitzer's on the way to my house ... I hope! Time for the Christmas wish list to "casually" be placed on the table. I have extra BCHART figures, but I wonder if there will be additional BCHART figures released to man the new piece. Also I was looking for British officers.
Larry

If a series becomes "retired", Club Figures can fill any truly needed holes.

It might be just me but I’m getting tired of all the French Marines. I would really like to see something different for POA.

Sorry

Over the weekend, I saw the Dragoon release resins at the Toy Soldoer Museum. The figures are being developed so that you switch around the various riders and horses (swap them out). I saw 3 different models all charging plus a Duke of Cumberland. I understnad that their will be at least 5 or 6 different mounted Dragoons.

Definite buy on these!!!!

That is a very cool strategy. I hope other makers catch on!
