Just wondering whether the 'eagle-eyed' have spotted something in the main picture containing the RR and allied crew, some of which are also new. There's a vehicle partly in shot at the edge.

Afternoon Chaps, stand easy. smoke if youth got em.

Well I believe the vehicle that our eagle eye scout has spotted looks remarkably like an American Red Cross ambulance. Lettering along the side may confirm this. As to whether it is a reworking of the first ford or new well thats open to debate to.

Just my best guess. Google images has some period photos if any clever chap can post them.

Regards

The RNAS armoured car is just superb........really like the white tires...........so unusual.......great. {bravo}}

Great releases again.
The wounded airman? sitting in the rear of the armoured car looks like he's not too far away from being released.

Do we know what John's source was for the RR? I can't find anything about 8-C-2 but then again I don't own the Osprey book relating to the RR armoured cars. Anyone have anything?

The only reference I own, a rather aged one, AFV #9: Early Armoured Cars, has no picture of the specific 8-C-2, but does have photos of the type, light colored tires and all. For my friends overseas, this pamphlet I own has no date but was published in London, is 20 pages long, and has a price of 5 shillings on it. Any guesses at to date (estimated)? -- Al

I'm a post decimal baby Al. We need an older Brit to help us out.

Is anyone hoping, like me, that the flag on the RR is detachable?

I don't think anyone need worry about the flag. No one is going to ship a flimsy flag pole and flag in a fixed, upright position, which means it will have to be detachable. Problem solved. Besides, how much trouble could it possibly be to remove a little pole?:wink2: -- Al

I had thought that.

Plus it's quite difficult removing poles. They all seem to like living here far too much!
