Good morning.

Welcome to the latest releases from John, for July. Please be prepared to be amazed. I am totally crazy over these. These are the best that he has done so far.

Just look the Indians in the new Snowshoes and Raid on St Francis. This is some of the best work ever, by anyone.

Plus all the others, for this month. This is an outstanding set of releases.

I hope you agree, hope you enjoy.

Best regards

Mike

BATTLE ON SNOWSHOES
The latest set for the Battle on Snowshoes series, depicts 2 Woodland Indians dragging away their wounded colleague.

It should be of special interest for those collectors who were at the 2008 Chicago Show, and watched me working, sculpting the masters.
The paint masters were worked on at the 2009 LA West Coaster show, The Sierra Toy Soldier Shop open Day, The New York Symposium, and…. Andy’s kitchen table!

Woodland Indians were known to take great care of their wounded, as their population numbers were low. Wounded warriors left on the battlefield were usually taken prisoner by the opposing tribe and made to fight for their captors. If the wounded prisoner could not be saved, or was to badly wounded, then the warrior would have no value, and were usually put to the death.

THE BATTLE OF CHIPPEWA July 5th 1814

The official British casualty return for the battle, lists a total of 485 casualties (148 killed, 326 wounded, and 46 missing)
The 1st Regiment of foot recorded 63 dead, 135 wounded, and 30 missing. The highest of the 3 regular British regiments at the battle, and was a loss of nearly half their numbers that were taken into the action that day.
This is the first of 3 casualty sets for the Royal Scots.

THE RAID ON ST. FRANCIS
The newest additions to the Raid On St. Francis series is another set for the Woodland Indian village, as well as the first of several native structures.

The Wigwam, is a domed single room dwelling used by certain Native American tribes.
These domed constructions were an ideal shelter under all kinds of conditions. The basic structure was formed with a framework of arched poles, usually wooden, which were then covered with some sort of roofing material. This usually depended on the local availability of materials, such as grass, brush, bark, matts or cloth.

The Wigwam is not to be confused with the plains Indian “Tipi”

THE JACOBITE REBELLION 1745

The massed battalion volley fire was employed with excellent results, but there was the obvious danger that having fired the battalion might then be caught helplessly reloading if the highlanders ignored their casualties and pressed home the attack.
To avoid this danger the front rank was directed not to reload after their first volley, but instead to charge their bayonets as soon as they had fired, thus protecting the second and third ranks as they reloaded and poured in a succession of volleys at point blank range.

The two figures in this set show two stages of the procedure, inspired by 17th Century pike drill.
The drill to “level your bayonets” and “charge your bayonets” was actually an awkward, and proved to be a highly impractical and ineffective technique for individuals in a melee. But when practiced en masse by a formed line it could be effective.

Gotta have them all, too cool!

The Snow Shoe's set is really nice, definitely my favorite.

Wow! That is a lot of releases. Some great stuff. I really like the wounded Indian set

Thanks for posting these Mike.

Yea Doug,

This comes out to 13 figures and a wigwam.

That's a lot of releases for one month.

John sure does good Indians, I really love the "Hunters" and "A Little Help".

The Q04's are a bargain, I mean to use them in either Quebec or Monongahela, I'm really glad to see them.

Gotta bite the bullet and pick some NBA winners to pay for it, lol.

A hefty release quota for July.

Great stuff.

Wow!
Better and better, just when you think it can't get any better he pulls it out of the bag!

I sometimes think John can read my mind (not even the wifes that good), he seems to produce a figure /set that is just what i've been thinking of.

I've just got one plea John take a holiday you are going to leave me broke. I cant keep up and missing out on these master pieces is breaking my heart.

Wonderful releases !!!
It is the Wigwam and the Hunter Set along with the previously released "His First Musket" that I am getting.
Being able to recreate an Indian Village from the FIW period along with figures in the "day to day" life poses is something I am long dreaming about.
Looks like John is right at it to make this dream come true.
Much appreciated!
Konrad

John seems to be taking it up a notch to a new level.

Many thanks for the update, absolutely fantastic, I'm spellbound by John's work and so much look forward to receiving news about new releases; sir you provide a valuable service!

Now all I need to do is get my flexible friend out and smuggle the additions in without the Camp Commander (aka Mrs Evzone) noticing ....too much!

Cheers

This is the same thing I wanna do.

Very much looking forward to a month of few to no new releases--- the monthly bill is getting far too steep.

If I remember right, one of the keys to the Battle of Culloden for the British was to engage the Scot to the right of you while conducting the bayonet thrust, not the Scot immediately in front of you. This largely removed the protective value of the Scot's shield. For this to work, the English had to remain well disciplined and in tight formation, and they did. Very much a buddy system. The effect was devastating on the Scots.

This might very well be true, but the only place the Highland charge actually made contact with the government troops was on the Highland right, where the Camerons and Stewarts broke Barrell's 4th rgmt.

Even I can see that one of the Q-04s is without a equipped bayonet, but I am unsure on the second figure. I think I see the base of a bayonet attached to the gun, but the picture is cropped. Any opinions?

Thanks

After a long second look, think there is a good chance it is not a bayonet, just the end of the barrel.

Count me in too! John has truly out done himself this time making a dream come true for so many of us collectors who love to do non-combat type scenes.

That's a tough one. At first glance it looks like there might be a bayonet, but then again maybe just the end of the barrel. Not sure if French Marines fighting Indian style would trouble themselves with bayonets.

This is a great month of releases from JJD, and for many of them it's just the first set with more to come. More French Marines skirmishing, 2 more British 1812 casualty sets, the first wigwam for an Indian village. - Better save room for an Indian longhouse or two, they'll take up some space.

One off topic Question:

-Will John Jenkis Design make some new series of figures based on prarie Indians,or war between the tribes(Sioux,Crow,Cree,Pawnee,...) and the blue soldiers,.....?
