Good morning from the San Francisco Bay Area, where the weather is super, just in time for the labor day holiday. Good news, all the August Releases are now in stock and available, so if you have not done so this is a great time to pick them up. We are running a little bit late on this month’s announcement, because for the first time in ages, I actually took a couple of days off, forgot what that was like.

This month we again have a great variety of releases, including all time favorite French and Indian Wars (Raid on St Francis), Knights of the Skies you will love the Duelists, Peninsular War and so much more, plus some things to look forward to. If you are coming to the Chicago show let us know, we hope to have these and a little more available to see at the show.

The Annual Caption Contest on John Website is now in full swing, if you have not joined in yet, now is the time. www.johnjenkinsdesigns.com look for Caption Contest #8, entries must be in by September 30, 2013.

Now on to the new releases.

Best regards

THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918

The Saint-Chamond was the second French heavy tank of the First World War, with 400 manufactured from April 1917 to July 1918. Born of the commercial rivalry existing with the makers of the Schneider CA1 tank, the Saint-Chamond was an inadequate underpowered design. Its principal weakness was the "caterpillar" tracks. They were much too short in relation to the vehicle's length and heavy weight (23 tons ). Later models, however, attempted to rectify some of the tank's original flaws by installing wider and stronger track shoes, thicker frontal armor and the more effective 75mm M1897 field gun. The Saint-Chamond tanks remained engaged in various actions until the late summer of 1918, belatedly becoming more effective since combat had moved out of the trenches and onto open ground . Eventually, however, the Saint-Chamond tanks were scheduled to be entirely replaced by imported British heavy tanks.

After serving with distinction he was brought to the attention of Rogers. In April 1758, Waite had built himself enough of a reputation to be promoted to First lieutenant in Rogers own company. In 1759, He was promoted to Captain and took part in the St. Francis Raid.
Waite was to successfully lead his party back to safety from the St. Francis raid.

THE BATTLE OF THE PLAINS OF ABRAHAM 1759

The 35th Regiment of Foot was active in North America during the French and Indian Wars, from 1756 until 1763.
The unit was probably best known for having served at Fort William Henry, during the siege, when the fort was overwhelmed by French forces commanded by General Montcalm.
They were also to see action at the Battles of Louisbourg and Quebec at the Battle of the Plains of Abraham.

THE PENINSULAR WAR 1807-1814
Portugal were Britains oldest allies, and no Peninsular war series would be complete without a Portuguese Regiment. Most historians define “Wellington’s Army” as a British force, but usually one third to a half were actually Portuguese.
The 21st Regiment played a part in most of the major battles of the Peninsular War, and was originally raised in Valenza in February 1664. The facings were yellow with yellow collars and cuffs as well as yellow piping and turnbacks.
Portuguese infantry Regiments normally consisted of two battalions. The exception being the 21st which consisted of only the one battalion. The Portuguese battalions were made up of 5 centre companies , a grenadier and a light company. The normal strength was 770 which included all ranks.

Never seen one before but that French tank certainly different. The riders look good also.

Like the German pilot with pistol. Only a half figure but has the arrogant Prussian look.

Outstanding! WW1 French armor with tank riders and crew to come. This is a fantastic development. JJD has gone where no TS company has gone before and has done a beautiful job. JJD's Brit armor is excellent and the new French armor is the next step to a complete WW1 line of armor. Very excited about this turn of events and I will be getting one ASAP. JJD has made my Tuesday. I will also be getting a set of the duelists. :wink2: -- Al

Fully agree with Al on this - that WWI French tank and upcoming riders & crew are Outstanding! Due to money and space, I was quite comfortable passing on JJD's WWI series, but the new French additions to the range are too good to pass up. Guess I'm just a sucker for all things French.:rolleyes2:

Sorry Folks missed a picture this morning, so here it is.

Now that JJD has come out with the wounded flyers, nurse, and ambulance sets, we need a shot up RFC two-seater for those wounded flyers to have brought back to base. I would love to see that old RFC stalwart, the BE-2c. It was the backbone of the recon units for quite a while (too long, in fact) and would make a tremendous model. Wouldn't be adverse to an RE-8 or a Brisfit for that matter. Just excellent releases that keep on coming. -- Al

Those guys make me think that there's a VERY early war aircraft replica in the works.
Moe, I like the way you think. The German would look very much at home in a Taube and the Brit in an early BE-2.:wink2:^&grin -- Al

1st post in Treefrog forum (I'm a french guy so my English is not perfect, I do my best !). I follow you all for a long time. So excited with the fantastic french tank Saint-Chamond 1/30, never seen anywhere else. I live in Saint-Chamond, France, where was the tank built. Thanks to JJD for going there. I will order it plus The Lucky Flesh Wound to complete my knights of the sky :)

NIce releases but I would rather have seen the Portuguese in action poses.
Looking forward to more Native Americans in action poses as well.

More Austrian Army to man the battlements at Leuthen....

I better get them on order!!

and more NAPs Portuguese with in summer and winter trousers.

Well Done John

:) :)

I have quite a few French and Indian Jenkins soldiers. But I have to say these two cockpit figures have me very interested in World War One airplane displaying! Thanks for this, Mike

The French tank with pending mounted soldiers looks incredible. Not something I normally would consider collecting but it looks superb! The nurse/walking wounded set is a nice piece too. Good set of releases from JJD. ^&cool
