New Sculpt New Cold Steel Range (2 Viewers)

Hello folks

Here is another sculpt. he is a sergeant of the light infantry of the 31st regiment of foot and will be released in the first batch of figures for the Anglo Sikh War.

During the first battle Mudki the colour party had all been shot down when Quartermaster Jones of the 31st regiment of foot picked up the regimental Colours. Jones went on to carry the colours for the remaining battles of the campaign Ferozeshah, Aliwal and Sobroan. At Sobroan he was wounded and later died of his wounds. A sergeant Mc Cabe picked the colours up and planted them on top of the Sikh entrenchments encouraging the brigade to break into the Sikh defences and carry them. For his bravery he was awarded an Ensign in the 32nd regiment where sadly his was killed at a sortie out of the siege of Lucknow during the Indian Mutiny.

Osprey have covered sgt McCabe in a few of it issues, I will post a few pictures later. So here is a picture of my version of the light infantry sergeant.

The anglo-sikh wars are a fascinating period with a lot of variety in troop types and some fantastic uniforms - who wouldn't want a battery of the Bengal Horse Artillery

I did a lot of research into the period a couple of years back to prodce my own very comprehensive 15mm scale wargames range which covers everything you'd need to refight the battles.

Mike I whole heartily agree with you who would nt want a Bengali horse battery. I would love to do it and some Sikh artillery but got to get some different regiments of infantry out there first. Some fighting Sikh artillery men and infantry would be good, the Sikhs always had infantry with their arty. As soon as the British and Sepoys closed in on them the Sikhs tended to fire one shot discard the musket and get the Talwar sword out and charge in. they preferred hand to hand fighting. I will post some pictures of the Sikhs.

hi there. Here are a few more pictures. I think that these could make really good soldiers. They are so colourful and varied and give scope to turning the Anglo Sikh Wars into a big range. There is so much potential for it. I really hope it is a success. I like the fact that the Sikh infantry are dressed in the European style uniforms but still carry a shield on there backs, its a bit like the old world meeting the new.
