new sets of 1/32nd Airfix 2012 (1 Viewer)

Are they the 1/32 or 1/72? I am sure that a box of the 1/32 was 3.50 in 1977. Surely they were a cheap knock off in a plastic bag? Or were they in the box? It is times like this I wish I could paint because I would go the plastics if I could.

Jack,

I remeber when AIRFIX Kits were 2/6d ...... but wasn't buying them in 1977.... so I can't comment about $3.50

anyway, yes they are 1/32

I can remember buying Airfix kits at Woolies when I was a kid! The 54mm French Foreign Legionnaire in the blister pack still lingers in my memory (remember that small plastic sheet they came with to cut belts from- fiddly).

Jack,

Why don't you have a go at painting them? They are great to learn with.

I've still got that kit, still assembled and painted in my collection.....

It was kept safe, with a few more including HISTOREX, at my Mum's house for many years while I travelled, worked away and genrally had fun without toy soldiers.

When is settled down, got my own place, and finished all the major renovations and wanted a hobby again, I retrieved them, and started making and painting again.

Looking back on them, I think I have improved.... like a good vintage wine :)

That Legionnaire was a good kit John.

You may have had more pocket money than I had, could never afford or find Historex locally. Historex were always the kits I wanted.

Scott

P.S- Also have a few Airfix 54mm and 1/32's lying around from my childhood- would never part with them.

Scott,

you can check out all my HISTOREX here.... http://members.upnaway.com/~obees/soldiers/historex.htm

Maybe I should also put up the AIRFIX too?

I might well give them a go, but I feel that it best to warn you not to wait for me to post pictures of my handiwork!

Scott

Do you paint them under one of those magnifying glass/lights set ups or do you use eyesight alone?

Jack
