New Soldier Gallery ACW figures (1 Viewer)

Have not seen them before. I like them. Any time I can get Berdan Rifles is a good time. Looks like K&C. It is on their K&C page any roads. I usually take the bayonets off of regular figures for an easy conversion. Would not take much to add a scope either.

New releases by Soldier Gallery would be great. There first ACW figures, a few years ago. were very well done. Let's wait and see.

You know I was in their shop a few months ago buying ACW figures from them and they never said a word! Not one.

Vamp and others,

At the risk of sticking my neck out to Far, heres the deal.
When you were in the shop (thank you for your business) a lot of things were still up in the air as far as getting the figures produced.
It has only been in the last four or five weeks that I felt comfortable letting the news out.
It is a very hard thing to put out a quality product, and I am working on this next release in a very slooooowwww and deliberate way.
I hope to post pictures of the third figure by first of next week.
A few points about the new figures.
Production runs will be about 250-300 each figure to start.
The figures will be the size of new K&C.
Look for some diferent subjects.
and I may darken the uniform colour on the Berdan guys:)

Thanks,
Chris

P.S. Any sugestions?

Chris,
Great looking figures but why oh! why 60mm size?
Apart from K&C's dozen or so Rebs at that size and a few of Conte's Sons of the South(absolutely denied by Richard Conte by the way) I know of no other manufacturer producing this war in 60mm/1/30th scale. My 1000 ACW metal's and five will get you ten every other ACW collectors collection are all 54mm Conte/Britain's/ONTC/Oryon/Tradition/Andrea/Imrie Risley/Frontline/Lancer/Forward March/Collectors Showcase etc.etc.etc

I use mine in various dios and you just cannot mix 60mm with 54mm regardless what others say, for a start we currently only have Rebs in this size who are carrying springfields that look like bazookas in comparison to 54mm figures muskets and when you put them on the battlefield with the boys in blue it ends up looking like some scene from the LOTR unless you put them way way back on the field to reduce the scale size with your other figures and what's the point of that
Your Berdan's are in fact the first Yankees I've seen in "giant size".
Nice figures Chris and I have no doubt with the limited run you plan they will sell to "parade collectors" but personally I could only put them in a mini-dio or stick-em on a shelf.

Reb,

I knew the size would be an issue either way I went, and believe me I lost a lot of sleep thinking it over.
One reason I went with the larger size is that I know that K&C will come out with more ACW figures in the future, and I hope to supplement their line with some of my figures.
Knowing how strong a force K&C is, I feel that their CW line will take off when more figures are added. Yes, I could be wrong. Andy could tire of the CW because he has stated that it is not his favorite period.
I have looked at the Troiani sets Conte (old and new) and the new Britain's figures and a good many of them are not much different from the K&C figures.
I will definitely say that they will never get as large as the new Conte Rebs.
The wax masters of the new figures stand about as tall as K&C figures and will shrink a little by the time they are cast in the plastic mold masters and then Finlay in metal.
When they come out give them a look, hopefully you won't be to disappointed.

I am looking forward to the pictures of your work. It would be nice to see some quality Berdans. I have been repainting Conte plastics for awhile. Now painting TSSD figures. What a refreshing change. So please show us what is new!

The first three figures are almost ready to hit the streets.
I am looking at a release date of sometime in June.
At this time my plan is to limit the figures to no more that three hundred in production.
It looks like I will be able to keep the price for each figure at the $25-$26 range.
A picture of the third figure is on the web site now.
Thanks for you patience and your calls to the shop, this is a slow process.

Thanks,
Chris

A couple of you have suggested I post the picture here. Since CS has announced there Sharp Shooters  I guess I better get off my duff and do it.
Three more figures on the way.

Looks great, thanks for posting! What is the price going to be? Are castings available? Would love to paint some of these for myself;)

Sorry Vamp only painted figures.
About $25-$26ea. Most will be sold as singles.

Sorry for the delay in getting back.
Of course the figures will be available from my shop.
You will also be able to get them from a couple of others. I will post that info later.
This is the guy that in on the work bench at the moment. He needs a lot more work but I wanted to show a little in-site on the process.

Thanks
Chris

Would you be so kind as to show us the mold stages? How many pieces will the master be in when you make your mold?
