I have never owned any Britains but am looking into start buying some. My current small collection consists of First Legion Civil War and Stalingrad. It appears to me that the scale is similar and the sculpts look nice and detailed. I have no complaints with First Legion, looking to expand my collection by being able to buy a little more with my soldier budget.

FL and WB are the same scale and can be mixed although there are obvious sculpting differences. Look at UK Reb's thread and you can see how he does it.

WB makes some terrific sets. While some manufacturers have developed a style that tends define (and IMO limit) them, Britains' newer sets strike me as being unconstrained by any such concern. Rather, the overarching design consideration appears to be producing figure sets that are as lifelike as possible. I find my small collection of the figures to be more than just a bargain, they're treasures which I doubt I'd ever willingly surrender.

I can only speak to the ACW figures and consider them the best in their price range. ACW uniforms varied slightly on the Federal side for the most part with a few exceptions. WB has continued to create interesting sets by being inventive with poses and various scenes from the conflict to keep our interest as well as making very interesting collections. Where there was variety within the Confederate ranks, they have shown restraint from portraying an overly ragged army and again have shown a variety of poses to present a very interesting as well as accurate figure within their price range. The latest figures are some of the best they have released. If you have any specific questions or would like me to highlight some details that do set them apart let me know and I will be glad to point them out. Happy collecting. Chris

Here's a dio with WB and FL combined. There's even one K&C, can anyone pick him out? Chris

Britain's and First Legion certainly do appear to blend well and work together. Thanks for posting the pictures of combining the two. Looking forward to drafting some Britains and combining the figures.

Outstanding Chris. And you have done a great job hiding the bases!

Yesterday I received my first three Britains soldiers to add to my small collection. I wanted to add a little color to my collection so I picked up a couple of Union Zouaves and the flag bearer. I must say I was really impressed with the detail and quality of these guys. They fit in nicely alongside my First legion guys.
I wasn't sure how I felt about the plastic packaging but they did arrive secure. They seemed to fit well within their shipping confines. The fact that you have to separate the seal from the packaging assures that you know you are receiving a new mint in the box figure. Thinking about a day trip to Gettysburg this weekend to hopefully pick up a few more.
