Hey, I just started looking at the CS ACW figures and I'm confused as to what is sold out if anything. I keep seeing different cavalry figures but not all of them are even on the CS website. Have some sold out already? Does anyone know what the full line of ACW cavalry consists of? I'd like to go back and pick them up if I can know what I'm looking for. Cheers, ssorc1

I think the only ACW Cavalry from CS were those 2 'Duel' releases. Are you sure you're not confusing CS with King & Country's new Cavalry releases?

CS has released, I think, 6 ACW cavalry pieces (3 each side) in it's initial ACW series. I do not now the availibility status but if they are not listed at the CS website, CS is sold out of them. They may still be available through the dealer network. The figure were an officer, standard bearer, and a OR with sword or carbine. CS also released artillery sets and infantry sets for each side in the early releases. -- lancer

If you don't have the 14th Brooklyn set yet, get those while you can find them!!! All 3 sets.

Thanks for the info. I had bought the Polish lancers and when I went to look into the ACW sets I noticed that not all of them were listed. I was surprised that they might be sold out already - but not really as the quality is so good. I guess I'll have to buy em when I see em from now on. That 300 edition goes fast. Thanks again.

Those Polish Lancers are great aren't they?CS animation seems to be superior to most.

Guys, I think you are confused. The Polish Lancers are not part of any ACW sets. They are Napoleonics and still available (all 8) on CS website...

I would recommend searching ebay, you will find all of the ACW sets over time at very cheap prices. Also, there are a number of dealers who still have a lot in stock, just search around.

The Polish Lancer got me interested and now I'm hooked. The ACW was a natural but I was shocked to think they had already sold out and moved into Ebay territory. Ill start with the dealers now that I know they may still be out there. The computer side of toys has long been the action figure method. Action figures are incredibly well sculpted, detailed and the realism is unmatched - as it is all done by computer. Even down to the exact likenesses of characters, actors etc. You can take a historical figure and basically recreate him in exact detail if you have enough info on him and reference material. You can take a re-enactor from any historical period, dress him up, pose him in anyway possible and gather up the data, then put him in the computer and voila, total military accuracy. Proportions, the way clothes cover the body, facial expression etc. All set into the figure. Pretty amazing. Still respect the guys that can sculpt well but the computer works for me too. CS will only get better over time. Now I'm more hooked to see what comes next.
Thanks for all the helpful replies. Cheers, ssorc1

I think he meant that the Lancers got him interested in CS and he saw their ACW sets.

Mike,
I'm not sure but I think The first ACW sets by CS are a different scale than the later sets and other manufacturers ranges. If I'm wrong someone please correct me.I'm sure Brian will if I'm wrong.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

I will!:D

We looked towards Britians and Conte when deciding on our ACW scale. Sure, too small for KC thats for certain.

Brian

That's good because I myself prefer Conte and Britains sets in ACW.

Thanks again guys, you've been great help. I'm okay with scale changes - works fine in dioramas - I just put the smaller ones toward the back for perspective. I don't collect K&C or Conte and Britains for that matter although they do produce some nice figures. I look forward to many, many, many more releases from Brian in the future. I'm sure he has plans for ACW domination and well deserved if the quality remains that high, not too mention the price points. Since Brian has taken part in this thread though and since the Polish lancers are over the top excellent - my first Napoleonics in many years - would he consider doing a set of Rush's Lancers? How cool would that be?
Cheers, ssorc1

I don't know if anyone is still reading this thread, but I have a few comments on the first few CS cavalry pieces. First, there were some quality issues with at least one of these figures. The scabbard of the Union Cavalry officer is made of a very delicate metal and can easily be broken. The tail on this same figure also has problems: the first one of this figure I received had the tail glued back on after having been broken (poorly glued, I might add). I sent it back. The next one arrived with the tail not even glued into the horse's body. The complexion of these cavalry figures is rather strange: there are gray hues in the skin color that give them an odd appearance. CS does many things well and I assume their quality control issues have all been resolved. However, I would think twice before collecting the early CS ACW cavalry figures. Re their scale, I don't understand the comment that CS ACW figures don't fit in with K & C. The early CS ACW cavalry figures are roughly the same size as the recently issued K & C ACW cavalry figures.

Your spot on with the problems we had with the first pieces. All those cavalry pieces are however sold out: they were done three years ago!

At that time we worked with an " agent ". To make the most profit he made " sure " our products were packaged in eggshell foam. What a disaster, we had to re-package all of them! Needless to say we got rid of the agent as soon as we could :D

cheers!

Not to be smug but I knew those first figures were bigger than the later pieces but CS has gone great lengths to correct problems. All companies has had problems (think Sons of the South ). This is called growing pains and I wish them the best of luck.(especially if they someday do FIW ;))

I hope that I didn't sound too critical in my post; I am a big fan of Colloctor's Showcase and try to find reasons to buy your figures. However, I believe some of the early cavalry pieces can be found readily in the secondary market and just wanted to give a heads-up to potential buyers.
